Meh. Phillies fans were told their 2008 WS win was of less value than others because of their opponents that post-season. For instance, they did not have to face the Yankees.

Never mind that they beat the team the Yankees could not.

I hear what you're saying Bill. I really do. And your points are rock solid.

But, hypothetically, if the Flyers would win the Cup this year with a 40 game season....it just wouldn't feel right.

I'd be excited and I'd go to the parade and I'd be absolutely ecstatic....but in a few months I'd look back on it and it just would not feel right.

I didn't say we didn't earn it. It just....and I keep saying this because I can't put it any other way- it just wouldn't feel right.

Dude either way you still need to win 16 game in the playoffs to get the cup
So weather its 40 games, 100 or 70 its still 16

Because the NHL is just brilliant in all that they do. It's rare in this day and age to see such a bumbling group of elitists so loyally and ravenously supported by blue collar money.

I cant help but look at a shortened season as an asterict season. Not that its still not quiet an accomplishment to win the cup in a shortened season, but it just doesnt have the peaks and valleys that make the Stanley Cup special.

Yeah, I get that. My original response to you was mostly sarcasm. I don't want an asterisk. All the teams will be playing the same number of games*. It's an even playing "field."

There's normally plenty of peaks and valleys in a long playoff run. Once the playoffs start. The Regular Season is long forgotten about.

Any of you guys read the article about how Washburn was undermining Juan Castillo and even Bowles before he finally got fired? What a mess.

I'd have no problem with a 60 or so game season, or even 48. You still have to win the games in front of you, and go through an entire playoff run to win the cup. It's not like other teams aren't trying hard because the season is short and you're therefore playing against inferior competition. I personally don't view 1995 as any different than any other year really.

I think they play too many games as it is anyways.

I don't follow closely, but I do know the Eagles are a genuine mess. It doesn't matter who they fire next, I doubt they'll win another game this season.
