so even if percy's and reinhart's attributes are similar, then the nod should go to reinhart if only for his bigger size and reach which would help compensate for any lack of skating ability.

The assumption was that Percy was a good skater. That was wrong. Then the assumption was that since Reinhart made the team, skating must not matter that much to Team Canada so Percy should have a shot too. Then the assumption was that Percy has qualities that Reinhart doesn't. That didn't work either.
