I believe Weiss, Ribeiro, Roy, or Bouchard could be had for less. - Fakepartofme
There's a good reason why they can be had for less. These are all second line centres who would be our first line centre by default.

come on man they are pretty much the exact same player.. only dumba has a few more points
this is what the trolls mean by blue and white homer glasses
if you look at things objectively, Dumba was a good choice. - Dozzer
Not even close. One is a rusher and a crusher that doesn't play well defensively. The other is a steady defender with good/decent offence.
There is nothing the same there.
That said I'm not surprised dumba got picked (u18 tourney). But I'd rather him not be there. |

True story, Mike Fountain beat out Marty Brodeur and Chris Osgood for the right to back-up Trevor Kidd at the world juniors.....
As for Dumba getting the invite to camp....ummm, did he not captain the U18 team and put up these numbers?
Canada U18 - mykokes[C] WJC-18 7 5 7 12
I'd imagine that that performance puts him in pretty good spot for making this team.
yea, not sure why people call him overrated... he's a similar player to Phaneuf- a wrecking ball who'll put up lots of points from the blue line. That's a damned useful player to have. |

You'd have to imagine he's not that motivated back in the AHL. Well i hope that's the case. - walshyleafsfan1
He's got an AHL only contract.
So if he wants an NHL contract. He'll be motivated me thinks....

Seems everyone is missing one defenceman who will get a serious look when or if the NHL starts up this year or next, he wears #17 with the Marlies.

I think sometimes people assume its the best NHL prospect that makes the Canadian National team at the world juniors, when often its guys who have built up a reputation with the guys making the selections. Moreover, just because a guy makes the team doesn't mean he's a better prospect than someone who doesn't. |

Just a note, Percy is the go to shut down guy for the Steelheads, does a really good job against the best players in the OHL which he is up against every game, his skating is not as bad as people say, his positioning is really good, smart player. - LeafMan
its fine on NA ice.. but euro ice? i just think he isnt quick enough |

i think you might be over-valuing Percy just a bit
Percy is good.. but not a REAL strong skater.. he really needs to work on that moving forward.
and since the tourney is being held in russian it will be on the larger ice surface. I think his skating would be exploited over there. Think Scott Stevens in the olympics.. just not a good enough skater to keep up. - Dozzer
I'm pretty sure Percy is a good skater. |

I can't wait for Bronze and the excuses afterwards. Apparently you can't blame goalies this year (Bobby Mac and Craig Drunk Button). |

Hey Bruce, was really busy work wise, this week is no picnic but with activities with the family.
How things been?
as for Percy, he is not the greatest skater but makes up for it with positioning, Hamilton is a worse skater with terrible lateral movement but has a long reach and very good offensive numbers, watch closely how he gets beat to the outside.
He is still a really good prospect though. |

That's something that always astounded me when i first moved here and got into hockey. When i read 'so-and-so' is a good player, just needs to work on his skating, i thought 'what the hell has this guy been doing, how did he get so far and not know how to skate'? Serious scouting blunder.
I've never heard of a soccer player being good, but not very good at running sideways. He can only run in straight lines. Haha
Only later, did i realize the different levels of skating ability. |

It's funny, you see guys skating in the NHL, and they all are pretty good, so you don't really have a proper perspective.
You need to see an NHL guy skating at your local rink with a bunch of weekend warriors (like me).
That's when you can clearly see that you aren't even doing the same thing that they are. |
