If I decided to play in the NHL, I probably would of done it.
Numbers like those aren't that hard. Especially for me.
Because I'm amazing. - jbold
Those would just be the stats from your first year in the league. |

Except they weren't that good.
They were pretty average. Nothing special. - jbold
Not even... Above average....

Daryl Sittler had a 10 point game. Way better than that Wayne kid you guys are talking about - PatC80
Maurice Richard was once named the first, second and third star of the same game.

Exactly. In that era, Dan Daoust played on a line with Gary Leeman(maybe once, or twice) but still...How many 100+ point seasons did he have?

ok, obviously Gretzky is in a whole other league compared to those two guys i mentioned that's why no one was close to his points but if Gretzky was drafted today there's no way in hell he ever puts up numbers like that. BTW check out Lemieux +/- |

What are you talkiing about? Sure, if they let Kessel walk then it would be idiotic, but why on earth would Burke let his signature player walk away? The guy is as untouchable as a player can be in the NHL. Burke will not only resign him, he will never trade him. Whether your a mouth breathing dumbass like myself or an analytical genius who hates the trade, Burke is gonna live with it forever. - Jimmy_Tea

75 pts ahead of Mario.
He wouldn't put up 200 points today, but he'd still blow everyone out of the water.

Backstrom is one of the best centres in the league, but just look at the other comments this guy makes, so who cares.
And anyone who thinks the number one centre thing isnt over blown is an idiot.
Look, centres are important but what is key is having 2 players on the same line who demand the attention of the other teams best defensemen. The gap between the 1 and 2 D man is usually incredible and if you can draw the second guy to your best player that is how you score.
Lupul and Kessel, until Lupul got injured, where top 5 in scoring. Just how many more points would they have gotten if they had an elite centre? Not many.
Thats not to say it isnt important to have a centre, but saying "most teams who win the cup have one" is disengenous because most teams have a top centre. Theres like 20 of them in a 30 team league. So your argument is a false equivalency.
What you NEED on a hockey team is 2 guys on the same line who can draw the D away from each other. Secondly, you need a second line that can score. With JVR the Leafs have a solid second line now.
Anyone who thinks the Leafs would be or cant be an elite team until they get the mythical number one centre is stupid. Sure a centre is a good thing to have, but to align your team by position never works. You don't say "we need a centre more than we need a winger" you say "I want the best player available". Seguin plays for a stacked team on a line with Bergeron, who , after Elias, is the most under rated hockey player in the world, Seguin is a solid player, but Phil Kessel is a dynamic superstar. - Jimmy_Tea
All that I get from your comments is that if someone doesn't agree with you, they are an idiot. |

Only four teams had 3 balls in the Crosby draft and they picked 1st, 6th, 12th, and 13th. To say The Leafs should pick in the top 7 is the same as saying all teams with similar odds should pick in the top 7, thats almost impossible. I'd take 10-1 odds that at least one of those 7 teams won't get a top 15 pick. - awfside
Perhaps you are missing the point that it is their criteria. I never said that is how it will happen, only that it is how it should happen (in their scenario). |

I honestly think if the leafs could entice both getzlaf and perry that be hugh. But ide bet there salarys would prove to be far to rich gor the leafs. There gonna try and cOmand simular to what suter and parise got in minesota. If the leafs could rid themselves of connoly komiserek and get lupul for alot less then he is now then mabye but those arent burke type contracts or yearly amounts most teams can afford in a cap world |
