lol. just went to see the score of the moose jaw game, see if Rielly was on the board. They're playing Kelowna, and got outshot 17-2 in the first period. Kelowna is rather stacked.

Me too, it's cold (+9) and rainy tonight, the pub down the street is my second home during the winter. Unfortunately there's no hockey on their tv's.

Don't worry he'll trade 2 first for Luongo.
- pker2theend

Nope... Canucks will need to include their first on the Luongo deal to get rid of that contract. Not the other way around... unless of course the Canucks want the ultimate locker room presence that Mike Komisarek can provide.

I sure hope so.

Burke has done a fine job of rebuilding this franchise from the talent-less state when he came in. The NHL team, sure, hasn't done so well. But the Marlies are showing signs of being a quality collection of young players.

And as far as the Leafs go, really, what opportunities were there that he missed out on? Vastly over-paying aging free agents like Richards? Over-paying in trades with young assets for pending free agents? Personally, I think he's made the best of the worst possible situation.

The only real fumbles were, obviously, Kessel and Kadri. But outside those, he's pretty much run the table on trades. Sure, he's made some questionable signings *ahem, Komisarek* but that's just money. It didn't cost us any assets to get them, so I'm not upset by it in the least.

Unfortunately, many Leaf-tards are fickle and impatient. But it's precisely their idiocy that got us here in the first place.

I like Burke. I like his style. I want him to see this through.

Agree with the trade commentary ... however, Burke needs to win in FAgency. He can't have anymore middling mediocre signings - and no more overrated Yanks. Period. None.

He must be reminded of just how much Komisarek and Connolly have helped the team. (NOT).

If the union decerts he better be ready.

This kind of stuff needs to stop: The number one centre thing is overblown. A real goaltender is any goalie who happens to get hot. Richards wasnt happening for Kadri and Kulemin, are you out of your mind? I agree not getting Richards was a blessing in disguise. The idea that Connolly is in anyway a bad signing just shows how much Leaf fans know about hockey, because this is a consensus opinion and its flatley ridiculous. Just for his penalty killing alone, Connolly deserves a roster spot. Also, he is a good leader on a young team. You should have your own guest spot on "Leafs Talk".

Wow. There are some fans who have blue blinders on... and I can understand that to a degree. There are fans who put up with baloney from the media in Toronto because its entertaining at times. Then there are folks who are just talking out of their a__.

The idea that Connolly was in ANYWAY a positive one - is well - just moronic. Overpaid. Check. Lazy. Check. Leadership, are you kidding me. The combination of lazy and believeing he could show up and be the #1 center was pathetic. One lousy wrestling match and two goals going in off his back-side after the game was out of hand do NOT constitute leadership.

In general I like Burke, but he has done a bad job in one area - and that has really hurt. He hasn't used the financial assets that the Leafs have. His free agent signings have stunk. Let's have a refresher on those wonderful signings.

1) Mike Komisarek. Overpaid massively for a slow moving and even slower thinking former first round pick (American btw). Ridiculous contract.
BB Grade F - saddled the club with a dead weight who got in the way of Schenn's development.

2) Francois Beauchemin. Not overpaid, but didn't fit as he had the unbounded joy of trying to play with Krapasarek for a good portion of his time in Toronto. Looking at Beauchemin's success it was generally coupled with a smooth skating partner.
BB Grade: D+ for the signing.

3) Brett Lebda. I'm not even going to say anything. Brett F_____ Lebda. Another America with a "pedigree" of winning - ya - from playing 10 minutes a game as part of the third pairing in Detroit. Amazing.
BB Grade: F+ what was he thinking.

4) Tyler Bozak: Decent signing, but the kid was overexposed and is blamed for not being a #1 center. Defensively he had to baby-sit Kessel in the pre-Lupul era... and they only formed a decent line when combined with Kulemin. Could be the ideal #2 center.
BB Grade: B good signing as player was basically free

5) Tim Connolly.
BB Grade: F Burke showed his ego here... couldn't sign Richards - opted for trying to create an image of the Tinman that he was a #1 center. Never. Oh yeah another underachieving yank.

So while BB has done some good things - his Free Agent signings have stunk.
