and your explanation of Iginla having 10 coaches in his 16th season now, and 5 since he was captain in 03-04? Dude is a coach killer - Oil_Addict
Ya this guy obviously would be terrible to coach and not get players respect http://m.youtube.com/#/wa...2Fwatch%3Fv%3DT6YS7VAs7Iw |

what do they know am i right? - Oil_Addict
Yeah an NHL.com writer's opinion is now a fact. I didn't say he was a bad leader or captain, but after the whole Vancouver experience he really showed some of his true colours. It's a lot easier to be a great leader on a great team, Iggy's been a great leader for many mediocre teams and carried them year after year.
Agree to disagree. |

Coaches kinda learn it's his way or the highway - Oil_Addict
I'm pretty sure he's the least of the coach's problems. Calgary has had plenty of issues over the years, I highly doubt Iggy is one of them. |

I would agree that a 35 goal 65 point guy is the last concern for a coach, but brent sutter wanted to rebuild somewhat, and management sided with iginla instead to only retool. Calgary going down that route is best for both our teams |

It's easier to replace a coach than the best player. Sutter wanted Iggy to transition to a defensive forward. Yeah, take the best shot on the team and make him into a checker. Sutter made some very strange decisions in the roles he wanted players to take. He's better off in Red Deer. |

pretty much it.
doesn't make sense to take a teams biggest asset and change it.
its the same problem for a decade, no centre. Can't score if you don't have the puck and at every whistle they are without it 60% of the time.

Take this for what it's worth, but Flames fans likely won't be seeing John Gadreau in a pro-hockey jersey until at least 14-15.
Supposedly he is going to do whatever the Flames recommend and consensus is that he should play at least through his Junior year.
Scoring for him isn't the problem, they want him to grow physically and be a complete, all around player before he even gets to the AHL.
Gadreau lives 10 minutes down the road from me. I haven't seen him since the summer but his dad owns and operates the rink that my college team plays out of (and that I have personally played out of since I was like, 12). Just what I've heard around the rink lately. Take that for whatever it might be worth. |

I don't disagree and it could be later as he will likely need at least one or two seasons in the AHL.
Janko could be close by then, and Nathan McKinnon will definitely be ready.

Iggy>Messier in terms of leadership and character IMO. Messier didn't give a (frank) in Vancouver, I can't imagine Iggy doing that. - Nucker101

I heard from a friend (okay I already know what you're thinking) that knows Conroy. The rumour is that Iggy and his wife are close to a divorce. (had no idea) If true no way in hell Iggy resigns in Calgary. And if (when) we lose this season Iggy can walk a way and the good ole Flames would get nothing. So it looks like the best time to of traded Iggy would of been last deadline. We may get lucky if we have a shortened season and then could trade him at this deadline. If that becomes the case the rumour is he'd be off to Pittsburgh.
This rumour probably holds no water but if it does... |

Even if this is remotely true, why wouldn't he sign in Calgary? I know he just built his dream home, my buddy did the concrete work on it (I know what you are thinking), so the wife will likely take the house and have the kids.
Jarome is a huge family man and he is not going to want to be away from his kids for that long a time, especially in the east. This could actually be a good thing for the Flames if they want to resign Iginla......... unless the wife takes the kids home to......... *gasp*...... Edmonton! |
