I've been quiet since this whole thing started but I have to say...

While both sides have not done a good job of ironing out these issues but I have to say the players need to tell Fehr to play ball. He's not a hockey guy just a hired gun. He isn't vested in whether or not the league or sport progress or decline. I feel they are getting shooting themselves in the foot, AGAIN.

At this point the damage being done to the sport is long lasting and perhaps permanent. All the strides taken over the last many years to grow the sport are being undone. It will take years to undo the damage.

Public opinion is that this has gone on WAAAAAAAY too long. Canceling the Winter Classic made both sides look like idiots cutting off their noses to spite their face.

Players want more money but don't seem to see that they will never get more money if revenues decline because of lost fans and lost TV contracts due to a decline in already low ratings.

Bottom line. The sport can't afford this to continue, the players can't afford this to continue, the owners can't afford this to continue.

Put on your big boy pants, realize on both sides that anyone with a Million bucks should feel as blessed as they get, and put the sport before your petty BS because that's hockey's tradition. The sport above all else.

The entire situation has become an embarrassment and disgrace.

This is what players fail to grasp: there is a line in the sand that the owners can't cross, or they lose money. You can debate where that line is, but there is a line.
