There is no make whole payment in year 5. So the player's share is 50% in that year. - MJL
Bob (frank)ing McKenzie. Yeah, he's a heck of a mathematician/Economist. Debate over. You win.
Two serious questions: (1) What do you do for a living? (2) What do you think (opinion) are the major reasons for the $3.3 Billion in revenue last season?
My company is publicly traded. We still don't give a rat's ass about EBITA, EBIDTA, or any other measure that ignores critical pieces of the financial picture - and for good reason. It's potentially misleading and subject to manipulation, and your "... as long as companies don't screw with the numbers" qualifier is difficult for outsiders to verify. The only reason we ever do anything with it is because invariably some outside entity wants it. (Of course, if you think it's is a great tool, history shows that there's numerous companies who had great EBIDTA's and went tits up anyway.)
That's why we use "rate of return" - because that's what investors ultimately are concerned about, not farcical estimates of profit.
It's even funnier when a bunch of CPA's say "only a moron would think EBITA was the best way to value a company." - Irish Blues
Wow this seems to hit a little close to home with you which is now just funny. Ok you win , your company knows it all. You are in insurance. You get written into a financial statement as a first to pay. Much like "investors" that fund into the insurance industry they would be payable by your company, which is a first to pay on the items you insure. EBITA is significant on a dividend return to investors. To say companies go tits up with good ebita can be said about many companies regardless of what they look at. I am sure there were many good financial institutions that went under during the housing bust using your model for underwriting and buying up loan books.
You just really want to win this battle at no cost so you can have it. It is pointless and stupid trying to discuss this with you.
Wasn't my intention. I apologize if I offended you. I follow mostly the guys on TSN such as Dreger, McKenzie, and LeBrun. On Hockeybuzz, I think Travis Yost has been great in covering the lockout. - MJL
I've been reading your posts here for a couple weeks, you seem to have a great knowledge of the CBA negotiations, maybe too good. If you aren't directly involved with that, you must spend allot of time researching material.
You are truly a die hard fan if that is the case. Cheers to that.

You see a dedicated fan. I see someone who is wasting their time.

Thanks! I've always been interested in the CBA. I read the entire last CBA multiple times. I think that means there's something wrong with me!

Actually, I want you to admit that EBIDTA is not the be-all, end-all you originally (and even as recently as your prior post) attempted to claim it is ... but since you're conceding the point, I'll take that as an admission that you're wrong.
Thanks! Enjoy your meal of turkey and dressing tomorrow!
just cause i said im here for u doesnt mean your issues haven deeply hurt me.
im not ready to forgive. get yourself cleaned up first--characteristically speaking.

I did it again!
My therapist told me I shouldn't get so attached. It makes others feel uncomfortable. They mistake it for aggression.
I feel terrible. I would like to make it up to you. I bought you a little something so give me your address and I'll drop it off. Give us a chance to meet, chat, and maybe more...
The PA has submitted previous proposals on certain parts of the negotiations, such as make whole. If I'm not mistaken, this is the first full comprehensive offer they've submitted that covered the entire spectrum. From HRR, contract issues, revenue sharing, pension plans, discipline, etc.
As far as the Media stuff. My opinion is to ignore the rhetoric, and focus on the process. The rhetoric just throws you off on wild goose chases. Following the process and ignoring the rest, shows you where things really are. - MJL
Your correct with the rhetoric and all the crap on internet twitter and both players and all involved in front of the microphones. You have to admit that the rhetoric is what we hear and it does impact who the average fans feels is right or wrong. And that WILL impact negotiations.
As for who you are.... many of us wonder but that is the internet for ya. If you are a player... good on you for having the balls to come on here and tell us what your thoughts are. Definitely appears that you have inside information. Either way doesn't really matter. As long as everyone can be respectable.
Grange just stated on Sportsnet... Canadian Sports broadcaster... that the deal only gets to 52%. He has been following the process fairly close. Who the hell knows. Just want to watch some hockey

well.................Eric Cole is pissed at Hamrlik, (I guess Cole must have saved a little $, and drank a swig more of the Donald juice), & Bissonnette has offered to take a pay cut, just to play again.
Hamrlik said the players lost $425 million so far? (& I think it's increasing everyday they continue to drink the juice).

Certainly, the fans hear the rhetoric. Many fans don't want to invest the time to read up on everything. That's understandable.
I'm not a player. Go to the Flyers threads and ask anyone who's a regular there. I've been a regular poster on this site for years. I don't have any inside information. Everything I know can be found on the internet.
Grange could be counting the Make Whole money that is deferred, or counting the interest that is gained. There's a lot I still don't know about it. I'm sure in the next few days, we'll learn more.
