Actually the choices are either get paid millions to play, or get paid nothing to sit.

Guess is just depends on how you look at it.

Rumor is, Bettman is asking for 1 child from each team. Its up to the teams to chose whos child is sacrificed.

Bettman is Andre Linoge

players getting angry is a sign of them beginning to fold.

their cash reserves are starting to dwindle now.. wont be long til desperation starts to sink in.

not to mention white is an idiot for slamming the poor markets.. its guys like White who spout off that those small markets should fold without even stopping to consider that guys like him would be lucky to get a min wage pay in the NHL since more talent would be spread across less teams

players do not have the business savvy nor the intellect of people in ownership.

they need to shut up and be content making 3 million per year or whatever.. take w/e deal is offered and move on.

Thats a pretty bold statement.
Besides, it's a pot in the billions...why wouldnt the players want a piece of it. If the owners weren't so quick to allow their gm's to overpay players this might not be a problem.
There's many other concessions the league wants the players to take...money's not the only thing.

Nah, my favourite is Ian White’s comments on expanding where the NHL shouldn’t be. Someone needs to let Ian know, that creating the 30 or 40 extra jobs for NHL Dmen may very well be what gave him a job in the first place. He could very well still be toiling away in the AHL.

who on the flyers gets on average as many points as Jokinen?

after you answer that, then re-read your statement, and think to yourself for a minute..

it will come together. i promise!

46-65 points a season in his last 3 years...id take that, with honor. it also doesnt include his shootout goals.

only 50 points a year!!!

BUST

people on this site who sees 40-50P per year as a bust are downright stupid.

the 50P threshold only goes to 100 players last season.. which means at 50P you would be in the top 15% in the league in scoring

50 point busts.. (frank) that drives me nuts.. people why say crap like that have been hit in the head too many times

It wasn't about that, they have so much forward depth that he'd fall to that role regardless. Some teams that go deep do so on forward depth, others on D or goaltending, some on all three. The Leafs right now with the drafting recently look like a squad hoping the D comes together and the forwards can be adequate yet nothing special.

really?

so if you had a guy who consistently put up 50 points a year you would call that a bust?

only 100 players in the entire league got to that point total last season.. or about 15%

therefore

calling a guy in the top 15% of the league offensively a bust is well.. stupid.

i am not trying to say the owners are right

everything i say is quite simply based on the fact that the owners can and will hold out much longer than the players will

its already starting to show with the loss of tempers amongst certain PA members

also.. if you had a million dollars to invest.. would you hand it to a player or an owner? thats all i meant.. that when it comes to money these owners are not to be (frank)ed with

Why is Kadri labeled as a Bust?... he was takan 7th overall...

Here is the list of the 10, 7th overall picks before him

Lars Jonsson,
Mike Komisarek,
Joffrey Lupul,
Ryan Suter,
Rostislav Olesz,
Jack Skille,
Kyle Okposo,
Jakub Voracek,
Colin Wilson,
Kris Beech

1 real star and 1 decent player and a bunch of average.

If Kadri got 50 points regularly that would be a homerun pick

draft picks are always funny.

We're obsessed with the bust or superstar potential of 1st round picks. But they exist at every level
Look at someone like Patrick Sharp.

95th overall pick by the Flyers
first year in the AHL has 33 points in 53 games. They bring him up for 3 games, 0 pts
second AHL year, 29 pts in 35 games. try him in the NHL, 7 pts in 41 games.
third pro year, 52 pts in 75 AHL games, no NHL experience. (lockout year)
4th pro year, 8 pts in 22 NHL games.

By now, in Toronto, the media would be howling at this AHL pro who can't translate his game to the NHL.

Well, so it was in Philly, and he was traded with Eric Meloche, for Matt Ellison and 3rd rd pick.

fifth pro year, NHL, 20 goals

He's been a pro ever since.

I think it's too early to call Kadri a bust or star. The kid has some unreal potential. We just have to wait and see if he lives up to it.
