Even if you aren't interested in this topic it is a current and relevant topic, esspecially in this barren wasteland of relevant hockey stories.
The kid is a polarizing figure and people have strong opinions on either side of the coin. Plus he started the year like butt and seems to be on the upswing. - xxCHRISTOFIRExx

He was rather controversial with his players though. I don't want that poop. - Tee-Dot
Shea Hillenbrand and Ted Lilly are renowned idiots ...those are the only two guys I can remember him really getting into it with ....maybe Burnett too ...another egomaniac.
I like Gibbons. Baseball Manager is a strange job ...they really don't manage that much. They draw up the very predictable lineup card ...and manage the bullpen. Gibbons was always applauded for his bullpen management.
Mostly they have to stroke and motivate ego's. For me, Gibbons always brought that nice good cop/bad cop approach.
Admittedly though ...I was kind of hoping for Guillen. |

*speaking on behalf of Tee-Dot*
Sure they may have not done too well last year but maybe they just needed a change of scenery... maybe it was just a bad year.
The sky's the limit. - T.Fleury
Well it's definitely a positive step, I just hope the money will be worth it and that rogers doesn't goes in half @ssed. They still need pieces, Im sure AA will be making tweaks.
Now its up to the players to step up. This will be the year we see what these players are really made of.
I'm looking at you Romero, JP and Lawrie. |

Gibbons was the coach...he had to control the room....Lilly and Shea got out of line...I have nothing against Gibbs for that. |

I am going to watch them this Friday ... and my son will be in the 6-years old Timbits game during one of the intermissions
... of course he is far and away the weakest player of the two timbits teams playing - Aetherial
My daughter (who was 5 at the time) was a Timbit at a Leafs-Habs Saturday night game at the ACC a couple of years ago.
She was far and away the weakest player - which meant she got all the love and applause from the crowd.
And she was of course miles away from the puck at all times, but at one point the puck was in one end, and she skated across the Leafs logo all by herself. I have a picture of it.
I just need to photoshop in a puck, and I can tell people she is on a breakaway.
Have fun at the game. Take 1 million pictures.
P.S. It was the first HNIC game broadcast in 3D. We were told that because it was so new, they were going to film the Timbits game to work out the kinks. They were supposed to get us a copy, but never did. Hmmmmm...I need to follow up on that. |

I like it.
Toronto/Blue Jays fans just don't like it because he's been here already and was fired. Yet all the managers that they "think" they want had also been fired from their previous teams.
The team Gibbons managed, was he supposed to make the playoffs with that roster? Would any other manager have made the playoffs with his roster?
He's a good manager, knows how to handle himself, made good calls with the bullpen and doesn't let ego's dictate his decisions. I like it...it's a boring choice, but I like it. - Juice
I remember some horrible moves, bad timing with the bullpen.
Like throwing BJ Ryan out over and over. |

How about as a St. Louis fan? Dude you're lucky to be even posting, we can pull the plug on this account at any time.
As for the rest of you, stop the trolling or you will be gone, we have been lenient lately because of the lack of participation due to the lockout but we will start to ban again if it keeps up. - LeafMan

I really hope that, some way, some how, the Leafs and Canucks end up in the same division if/when the NHL realigns.

Totally. Just as I would have been happy if Cowen turned out to be a solid 2nd-pairing defender.
Which he probably won't, thanks to injuries |
