I agree. It would not surprise me if Nilsson turns out to be the better goalie.

would not be shocked if some of our NHL talent gets traded away for either a D-man or another superstar player....
just my opinion, but I could see Okoposo, Grabner, Bailey, Nielsen being the players traded away, and would not miss them either......

You're crazy if you wouldn't miss Nielsen. And none of those other 3 are going to bring back very much of value.

Strome, Nelson, Cizikas, Sundstrom,
No, not gonna miss Neilson, even tho, Cizikas is being groomed to be his replacement defensively, and the other 3 centers probably have better scoring ability.....
Trust me, u wont miss him either......

I get it, but Cizikas hasn't proven a single thing at the NHL level. I'm not trading a top-10 defensive forward in the league because we might have a potential replacement for him. Not to mention Cizikas is perfectly capable of shifting to wing and playing with Nielsen. Nelson and Sundstrom are more than likely going to be wingers also.

I understand where you are coming from, but to get something of value, you have to give up something......would u trade Neilson and Okoposo for B.Ryan? or even a very good D-man, I would in a second...
also I believe we have to many wingers in the system, Kabanov, Nino, Lee, Petrov, Pearsson, Ullstrom, but I do believe Strome will be moved to wing

Of course I would trade Nielsen and Okposo for Ryan, but Bob Murray would have to be smoking some seriously potent crack to make that trade.

I also don't think that Strome will be moved to the wing.

Neilson would be missed. Also don't forget he is the all time leader in shootout pct. which is becoming more important every year. He had just 2 lless points than Danny briere
Last season and as you mentioned is a top defensive forward. Currently I think the isles forwards in general are putrid in their own end which puts a lot of pressure on the crappy d we have had. Neilson was signed for a long term deal for a reason. They want him here

Nielsen is probably the 4th most important player on this team (1 JT 2 moul 3 hammer) I never wanna lose Nielsen

But also I don't want to give up on grabs yet, he scored 34 goals before you know

I don't think crack would do it. He would have to be lobotomized as well as have an on going crack addiction.

You sound like an Oilers fan. It's great to be optimistic, but what percentage of prospects go on to make the NHL? What percentage of NHLers are impact players?

I know that without a group of quality prospects, you have a whole lot less chance of finding that / those solid NHL players..

I bet every other team wished they had the Isles / Oilers prospects.

Not to mention, prospects are assets, which can be used as trade bait. I think the original post about all the isles prospects, was that Garth is eventually going to have to deal someone.

As he should, that is the beauty of build a war chest of prospects in the first place..

As I said here for years, build the foundation of your team and the rest will come. Most great teams have great farm systems..

Naturally........but Garths problem is he hasnt shown an ability to decipher who is part of the plan going forward, and who is expendable. He just keeps everyone. Its time he makes a move......and really puts his brush strokes on the painting. ANyone can just keep drafting and drafting, but he's gotta mold this, and put his stamp on it......its his team.
