The NHLPA is so stupid! They're making more money than ever before but they'll sit out and take zero salary, over a salary reduction in which most of them are overpaid.

Well that number does include very likely some players who are career AHL'ers/4th liners and a few players that were probably planning or considering retirement anyways. Think about teams that get destroyed by injuries and have to call up plenty of players from the AHL throughout the season, those players were unlikely to get another NHL shift again anyways, it happens every year. Then there's European players signed to one or two year deals to come over to NA and see if they can crack an NHL roster and if they can't they usually return to Europe at the end of their contracts.
Just saying that that number might be a little exaggerated since some players weren't going to have another shift in the NHL again, regardless of a lockout.

Can anyone back that statement up? Very interesting. - IanEsplen
Its not that interesting... on average... after each season... its roughly over a hundred players never play a game again. So it was just above average over a 2 year span (2 draft classes)... the average depends on the strength of the draft class.
Also taking injuries into consideration... if one season there is over 200 players injured over the period of a season.. there are probably close to 50-60 players who play maybe 2-3 games being called up from AHL.. ECHL.. or on loan from CHL.. and never end up playing again. Also... players who retire from age... or injury.
I was totally excited for the upcoming year thinking they'd get a CBA hammered out, my Canucks would be well rested and take another run at Lord Stanley's Cup.
Keith won't fight anyone, has he ever been in an NHL fight? How about Daniel grow a pair of balls and challenge Keith himself? Who cares if he loses, standing up for himself goes a long ways with your teammates! - LeftCoaster
Let the Canucks focus on getting retribution on Keith, if they do that they will lose the game. The best way to get revenge is to beat the team you're angry with. Keith's hit on Sedin was wrong, he was suspended and her served that suspension without complaining. It's time to move on. I'm not just saying this because I'm a Hawks fan, this stuff happens to our players too. Toews is just finally recovering from his concussion (care of Joe Thornton) and I remember Kubina's vicious hit on Bolland a couple seasons ago. There's also the damage Raffi Torres did to Hossa and Seabrook. Torres is a complete idiot but do I want the Hawks to focus on hurting him the next time they play the Coyotes? No, I just want them to win the game.

I agree with this. The Canucks have a history of getting very distracted over this stuff and losing embarrassingly or worse, suspensions and injuries.
Take a number and if they have a chance, take Kieth out with a clean hit. If he has to leave the game...bonus.

Toews better watch himself. This is becoming an issue for him.

I agree, and he had a couple concussions before playing in the NHL. It would be a terrible waste to see Toews' career shortened by concussions. Even if Canucks fans don't like Toews, he'll be a main stay for Team Canada in the Olympics.
Edit: Does anyone else find it odd that players can be unified when it comes to money (i.e. lockout) but not when it comes to their personal safety and health (i.e. head shots).

some players injure others and some players don't, so they can't really be unified on that kind of thing. Plus, they probably have very little faith in the disciplinary department, so they are hesitant to see given greater power.

I think everyone can agree that Toews is awesome. I don't think there is a single canuck fan that wouldn't have him on our team.
And I agree that losing Toews would be bad for hockey in general. This league needs all the stars it can get. My only gripe with Toews is his personality during interviews. He should have been a professional golfer.
