Parents are buying $1000 chexx bubble hockey games for kids now?
Damn.I was given a $5 mini stick and a potato to play with

- senstroll

Been to a Leafs game lately (well, not lately, but...).

They now have composite one-piece mini-sticks. $40-$60. I swear to Gilmour.

Any parent who buys his kid one of those should be shot.

Palmy grew up in my neighbourhood (his brother was my softball coach once).

But my career as a goalie artist started with Doug Favell and Dunc Wilson.

I've had several Ceasars and Harvey Wallbangers at Mike's bar in Aurora when it first opened up

Never been up there, but I did used to buy Hamburgers at Palmy's on Victoria Park Avenue (and that hasn't been there for an awfully long time).

Man this lockout is a plague. The more and more people I talk to about it, the more I hear how many different industries and individuals this is hurting (including my job).

My Dad, he's a young Dad, grew up in Agincourt (when Agincourt was cool) and claims to have played road'er with Palmy. I think Brad Park lived down the street too.

“Guys aren’t going to give in when it comes to contracts now, it’s not going to happen,” Crosby said. “It’s not money, it’s the rights as a player within your profession, that’s what I think guys are definitely going to stand strong on. And it’s ridiculous to try to change that after the success of the league that everybody’s had here the last seven or eight years.”

you mean the owners arent lining up to get the game going again when 60% of the league was in the red last year?

its really quite simple why the NHL and PA cant get this done... the league wants all of its franchises earning money and only have a couple teams in the red at most.. so they look at things from a team by team perspective..... the players on the other hand view the league as a single business.

the players need to adjust their thinking.... period... the NHL is not one business, its 30, and 18 of those businesses lost money last year.

not surprised at all that the owners arent in any big hurry to continue losing money.

- Dozzer

If Bettman and the owners are so concerned with teams losing money then they should be contracting. If the teams cannot survive it is not the players fault... the market just isn't there for 30 teams. If the people complaining about losing money were gona then we'd be playing right now.

The NHL would have to produce a legally binding document signed by both the owners or B.O.G and the NHLPA noting this as fact, if not, they don't have a legal "leg" to stand on in court.

Anything to do with the CBA or amendments to it have to be signed by both the NHL and NHLPA.

- LeafMan

As per 590

All NHL contracts have writing (fine print) in them that state the contract can be altered based on the existing CBA. Whether CBA be in exsitance prior to the contract or signed during the length of the contract.

I heard this on Sportsnet 590 during the lunch hour last week. Mac was one of the guys discussing it with some sports lawyer.

Ya exactly. Its not the players fault the owners are losing money. The owners allowed the contracts to get so high....I hope the players dont budge on their contracts.
Shut the league down for 2 years...whatever it takes. The owners should have to honour the contracts signed

Whether the owners bully the PA or not, the fact of the matter is the players HAVE TO blink first. The owners can drag this out, the players can't. Even if its not fair or right.

narrow minded view, its okay to just have those owners write off their 200 million or so in franchise fees?
