A pylon that skates like as fast as a glacier, moves like he has gout, can't fight anybody over 5'10, handles the puck like a land mine and despite a reputation for clearing the crease has only been found once in there and its because he fell on top of the goalie.

Wait a minute... that was Luke Schenn!

No wait, it was Franson!!, or was it Aulie?

nevermind, you are describing Phaneuf!!

If they were smart (I'm sure Fehr is doing this) they would challenge that they have a right to those contracts as they were entered into legally and are binding. If the contracts are severed they can take it to court for breach of contract.
- AdamFrench

They were signed under a CBA that did not guarantee salary. They were also signed with full knowledge that they would be governed in the future by a new CBA and would therefore be subject to its terms. I seriously doubt any court would touch this.

Why don't you tell them to count Mike Gartners goals... They'll fall asleep long before they finish.

they knew they would have to fight for it at the very least.

the league is making this too complex...

the simple solution would be to have the cap hit equal the payout and stop averaging it over the length of the contract.

loop hole closed.

- Dozzer

Or make every year be equal pay.
Or just have a maximum variance.

There are a bunch of ways to do it.

The NHL would have to produce a legally binding document signed by both the owners or B.O.G and the NHLPA noting this as fact, if not, they don't have a legal "leg" to stand on in court.

Anything to do with the CBA or amendments to it have to be signed by both the NHL and NHLPA.

Parents are buying $1000 chexx bubble hockey games for kids now?
Damn.I was given a $5 mini stick and a potato to play with

- senstroll

You had a potato? I had to role up tinfoil into a ball ....and I had to wait until the foil was used first.

Together we could bake a potato? (that's not code)

i HATE MW3

im going to buy the new black ops soon, id suggest NOT buying MW3, i hated it with passion, i quit it after about a month.

- big_dion

I really hated Black Ops 1. I felt like I was being led around by the nose the whole time. I much prefer a sandbox feel, like Infamous!

AC sucks
- AdamFrench

Yeah I LOVED The first part of #1, in florence. It was especially cool when I climbed to the top of some building where there was some vantage point thing.

After about 1 hour the gameplay became absolutely intolerable. Quite honestly one of the worst games I have ever played. Great concept, executed badly.

If you put Infamous mechanics into the game it might be very cool.

But seriously I do.
- AdamFrench

Re: MAss Effect... I played for an hour. I might go back to it. The story seems ok but the linear gameplay, and again, the clumsy/slow/awkward mechanics made the first hour pretty unimpressive.

I am not sure you are following this properly.

I am suggesting that the players would not have leg to stand on re: being paid in full for contracts. The CBA they were signed under did not guarantee this, and neither will the new one.

You will have to find the part in the CBA that says, contracts signed are not guaranteed, if it is in there, then you're right, the language has to be precise and clear on this.

I think the owners win this battle - maybe not on legal merit - but on common sense. If the players won that fight in court and had their contracts guaranteed it really doesn't change the heart of the negotiations. The owners would say fine that doesn't hurt us, but instead the rest of the players who need to sign contracts within the 50% HRR budget.

If the HRR is going to go down to 50% the rich kids have to give some of their chunk of the pie back. The owners have offered over 200 milly so far of the reported 550 milly in dispute. It'll get done within a week. It's close ...this is the quiet moment before the strike of midnight.

Who knows, other leagues have the language put in the CBA, the NFL has it written that no contract is guaranteed or something to that effect, if it is not specifically written into the agreement, you have a legal argument to make.

I said this many times, I don't care who is at fault or who people blame, the fact of the matter is, this is the third work stoppage under this commissioner. It is time to clean house, Bettman, Daly and Jacobs.

Unfortunately it is going to be virtually impossible to do, contrary to what some here believe that Bettman is a puppet to the owners, his contract says otherwise, people should read up on it, he has more power than some people think around here.

That being said, I said this a while ago and oddly enough tweeted it to some in the MSM and they are finally saying it too, the game and negotiations has become more about egos and greed and less about for the good of the game.

we used pencils as sticks and a rebound ballbearing as a puck and hockey cards as goalies on a tile floor on our knees....good times though and time consuming with lots of imagination and hockey passion

And we'd spend hours drawing pictures of Mike Palmateer and Ken Dryden

According to my contractor, there's a guy on Kijiji who takes the old table top video games, cleans them up (which I'm guessing means sands the cigarette burns out) and drops in new hardware, so you can play 1,000 games instead of just one.

I'm tempted...
