It is arguably the biggest goal ever scored, with probably the most historical renown/impact.

Normally, it is clear that one goal, or one great season, or one great playoffs or whatever is not enough.

Because it is the hall of fame though... I feel he deserves to be recognized.

- Aetherial

I'm pretty sure you can go in there and find a picture of him, his stick, gloves, puck he scored with, whatever, that moment is more than recognized.

But his career isn't worthy.

What are you arguing though?

Besides this straw man?

- robin_steele264

I see you're having a bit of trouble differentiating between an exaggeration and a straw man.

I wasn't the one who said Lowe should be in the HHOF ahead of Sundin because he has six Cups.

It wasn't just one goal.
- burn

Who cares if it was 10....outside of that tourny, he had an average career.
He's only famous because of that ONE goal...he's even said it himself.

But Kevin Lowe does.

And so does Mike Krushelnyski.

And Dave Semenko.

If you were in the right place at the right time, you're in. New rule.

Hey Uggy ,
Can we get a sneak peek at your 2013 acceptance speech ?

Completely disagree...one goal does not make you an automatic for the HOF.
They simply cannot let everyone in......or whats the point?

- Fakepartofme

Well, it wasn't really just one goal. He was tied with Esposito and Yakushev for the tournament lead including 2 in game 5 and the winners in games 6, 7 and 8 in Moscow. And that one goal you are referring to is likely the single most famous goal in the history of the game.

Seems to me that such a famous event deserves recognition somewhere. Maybe the Hall of Fame?

What I really don't get is people completely disregarding the significance of the Cold War. This was about more than just hockey. But if you already have your mind made up about it then good for you. He's not in yet so it doesn't really matter.

Agreed.

Fernando Pisani to the HOF!!!

- robin_steele264

Absolutely. Because we all know the 2006 playoffs were just as significant to the world as the Cold War.

Opinions are like bumholes..everybody has one..

Funny story. My wife grew up in India and her family was pretty well off at the time. Anyway, one of the staff they had at the leather tannery actually didn't have a bum hole and had to have a tube connect his colon to an external poo bag.

Again, a performance in one tournament does not equate to HHOF career.
It's the most famous goal in CANADA...and no one is taking away from the significance of the goal or tournament.
No matter what occured in the tournament, it still doesn't make his career HHOF worthy.
Had he not scored that one goal, this wouldn't even be a discussion.

I still can't get over the fact pat burns wasn't giving his rightful place in the hall. The league blew it not getting him in before be died and somehow still not in? Disgraceful to one of the greats
