Pete, you are devoted conservative, I understand you will never change your stance/views but for those in the center/left (65-70% of Canadians), Liberals are the main option unless they poop the bed like they did with the sponsorship program. We both know the conservative won't be in power with a solid party on the left.

He is waiting for the party's race and debate. He won't put all his cards on the table at this point, too early. He has to win the internal race first. He is not running for Prime Minister at this point but to be the leader of the party. The leadership race is next spring, he will have to put his cards on the table at this point. It takes months to prepare a platform.
