You keep spewing the same crap because you heard one guys negative opinion about Lu and you preach it like it's gospel.

Can we debate about how bad Burke is or something, I'm bored. Dean Lombardi took over the Kings in the spring of 2006, they finished with 68 points in 06/07 and drafted fourth overall, in four years they had a 101 pt season and were in the playoffs.

Be nice!

and yes.. i hope today they can at least find some common ground to start working from... i think the cancellation of the winter classic made the union realize the owners are serious. too bad it took as much as that.

After reading Alfredsson's comments on how disappointing this is and how the league is in no rush to get a deal done, I am more convinced than ever that the PA has their collective heads up their asses and are completely out of touch with reality. Hell, we already determined last week that at least some of them don't have a clue what escrow is or is for. These idiots have decided to blindly follow the biggest bumhole on the planet.

So, no, I don't believe the PA feels any sudden urgency. Remember Fehr has told them all along what would happen...

which was great and cool and everything... but it doesn't change the fact that they are losing money. Sooner or later the players are going to wake up, maybe.

i am on your side

the players are asking for too much.. not even the other 3 major pro sports hand out 57%

50-50 is fair.. but at the same time they want their money guaranteed.

they should do it this way. leave it to the teams to decide to roll back whatever contracts they wish.

then, if the player feels thats unfair they can declare free agency and the contract becomes void.

this puts a gamble on both sides of the table.. the ownership will have to guage the risk of rolling back a contract (losing a player for nothing) and the player will have to guage if the rollback was fair (walk away from contract and then not get offered as much money elsewhere)

Schneider is top 5 in the league.

And at the top end of that 5.

Anyone who says otherwise is just trolling.

Prust did a good job in showing that he has no idea whats going on and is only capable of repeating the big words he reads from PA statements.

Heres what I find interesting and why I think Luongo will be a Leaf:

In 2008, it was rumoured for Months that Burke would be the Leafs gm. He eventually did.

Phil Kessel was rumoured to the Leafs several weeks before they aquired him.

Kaberle was going to the Bruins for a couple years before he actually did.

The day Burke was hired, the Carlysle (spell?) rumours to TO began.

JVR for Schenn was rumoured six months in advance.

I am sure lots of rumours don't come true, but someone close to Burke clearly likes to let things slip well in advance.

As a long time leaf fan I do not want Luongo coming here, the price is too high no matter what it is! That said, Luongo signed a contract to play in a hockey town and essentially be front and centre accountable! In fact he took $6.7 million a year to be the man! So to say now that he doesn't want that............does this mean he is giving some of his money back??

Here is the concern. Luongo is not the same guy from a few years back. He has lost much of his leg and foot speed. Because of this, he is not able to cover the bottem of his net. He has difficulty moving across the crease and adjust to the oncoming two man rush and picking up on his angles. He lets in soft goals. Why would the Leafs give up a blue chip talent for a goalie who is losing his skills?
- spatso

First of all, thats all total crap. The guy is 33. Tim Thomas is 107. I don't think Luongo is past his prime for a second. I think what youre seeing in Vancouver is what we see in Toronto all the time with guys like Murphy, McCabe, Komi, even Connolly; that is, guys who are NOT nearly as bad as fans make them out to be. I mean, don't confuse me here, I am not saying Komi has lived up to his contract or that Connolly is all that good, but they aren't the total crap that zombie groupthink fans make them out to be. In fact, I think you'd have to be insane to think going forward that Schneider is a better goalie than Luongo. He's never won a playoff series. He's never started more than what, 30 odd games? Maybe he's great. Maybe he's a dud. No one knows. But to say "Luongo lost foot speed" is total BS. The guy is a finely tuned professional athlete and maybe in the 80s 33 was old, but its not now and history shows that old goalies are actually better because its an intelligent position.

Lu is a great goaltender. You can say that he lets in soft goals, chokes under the pressure, stands behind a good team, at the end of the day you have to give the man his due though.

That being said, I don't like the contract. On top of the contract, I think about what we would have to give up to acquire him.

Would be nice if Toronto made a trade that came out of left field that actually made me excited.

- Blueman2010

Bozak and Frattin and a Second is more than enough to get the trade done. It will be two of the three with Lombardi thrown in. The contract is not as bad as people say. The Leafs are the richest team, they can toss him in the minors if he sucks and avoid the salary cap. Based on the low cost of aquiring him I say you gotta do it.

hmmm.. i think there is this other west coast team that had its primary core assembled before their current GM got there....

hmmm.. who could that be? i am almost sure its a western conference team..

I think youre talking about the team that Burke and Nonis built.

bernier's numbers arent really anything special
- Dozzer

Who cares about numbers? Its a all about pedigree with goalies and I would think that if Bernier could be had for such a weak trade he'd already be a leaf.

Says the guy who dressed his kid up as a monkey for Halloween!

Poor kid, he never had a chance with a parent like Scoob.

- As_I_See_It

If it's racist for a white guy to dress up as a black guy... wouldn't it be the same for a christian dressing us as a muslim?
