Any of my Marlies-watching friends have a report on Ranger?

I'm fascinated to see how this story plays out.

Did I say that? I was talking about those guys helping to fill the gap, not starting all 3 with the Leafs.

Be honest, have you ever seen these guys play more than once?

I'm guessing they won't get the 28 or 10 UFA clause. They might get another year but I doubt 3.

The 5 year max term and 5% annual difference should close a few loopholes.

No word lately on what they might do to those "Luongo years" at the back end of the existing contracts. I wonder if the PA would take a position on that?

I read an interesting idea a couple of days ago (sorry, can't remember who wrote it):

You can't insure a contract for more than 7 years, so why not make it a 7 year max?

Ya, read the same thing. Strange that the owners (like Nashville with Weber) would sign contracts beyond those insurable years. I wonder, if we looked at the contracts, if the seven year mark is where the retirement years (low annual salary) began to kick in ...reducing the risk to the owners.

And if 7 becomes the new max ...will BB go there? I say yes, b/c Rogers/Bell will make that decision easy for him.

In a 12 year career, he played for the Islanders one year, and the Panthers for five.

In the last three best-on-best international tournaments, he has been named to Team Canada. For the most recent one, he was the starter, and the guy who the Team Canada brain trust felt gave them the best chance to win the final game, and the final game in OT. Which he did.

He has a bad contract. No other team wants him.

But to suggest that the guy is terrible is silly.

I could see him doing it for Kessel (for a variety of reasons), but other than that, I don't see who he would want to do that for.
