I was at the game and I attend Q games regularly. The Russians didn't dominate physically - actually, it was quite the opposite. They were lit up often with bone-crushing hits. Grigorenko looked good, but not a game-changer. His goal was impressive though. Very hard and pinpoint accurate. Good hands, but didn't make much of his chances when dangling in. I would give him another year in the Q or a year in the A before he goes up to the show.

Agreed. Finally a knowledgable and unbias post about this kid. We'll see how he does the rest of the series against the O and WHL. He will get his 9 games with the Sabres and go back to juniors, a lot of good experience from that as well as the world juniors.

I don’t know about silly…. I know, it’s a disservice to some players. It’s there for a reason though. It’s a talent drain from the CHL…. It’s a fine balance between being sure the CHL is the best in terms of development, and holding some back. If they didn’t have it there, many (if not most) reasonably highly drafted players would be gone from the CHL immediately following the draft.
