I want to be optimistic too but I can't get see them reaching a deal a few days after cancelling the Winter Classic that generates millions of dollars for the NHL. The rush to make a deal should have been two weeks ago so they could save the Classic and be able to play enough games to make it a legitament season. Negotiations should have intensified prior to cancelling the Winter Classic not after. Only in the NHL.
Did you mean "code" of silence? Because I'm not really sure what a "cone" of silence is... must be similar to a cylinder or cube of silence... - MnGump
What is more odd? Me working as hard as I can to get info and remaining positive, or some of you coming on here day after day and remaining negative? I get frustration.. - Eklund
I'm sure everyone appreciates your hard work, but here's the thing Ek, There has literally been nothing positive to take away from this debacle since day one. So it's probably safe to say your misguided optimism is based on virtually nothing other than your own need to feel like you've got your finger on the pulse of the negotiations.
You certainly can't blame guys for being frustrated with this nonsense, but at the same time, they come here for any possible relevant and pertinent bit of information on the lock out. They look to you for your insider info, not your rah rah sis boom bah attitude towards the whole thing, however misplaced it may be.
I think most of us just want the straight facts, not your gut instincts or the hairs on the back of your neck intuition, because it's proven more times than not to be nothing more than stabs in the dark and obvious guessing. Point in case, optimism meter goes up on the day they cancel the biggest money making event of the season??? Makes no sense. I think it's fairly safe to say we ALL want this over with by yesterday, but enough already with the "opti-meter" and all the false positive rambling disertations... We just want the facts, that's it. Not trying to be a Richard, just telling it like it is...at least thats the way I see it...

i agree. with all the BS that the PA and NHL are producing, it would be appreciated to have a median that is in touch with reality. i was opptomistic before last lockout...someone should tell EK the saying "fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me"
Well Eklund I'm on your side even after the $1000 phone bill I got from the "Kaberle August 15th" trade news in 2010 for the trade that was supposed to happen but didn't. You see I was in the Dominican Republic on a Canadian data plan when my phone kept downloading updates about nothing for 2 weeks. I am skeptical that there will be a season, and quite frankly I'm hoping the season is cancelled. The truth is that hockey fans need to see the owners and players suffer real world problems for a change instead of their "non problem problems". Screw em! As a fur coated Hopkins would say.

No it's not his fault. It's mine and the alarm on my BB that automatically turned the phone on in the safe. What was Eklund's fault were the daily nonsense updates about Kaberle trade rumours that weren't even close to real. That is where all the data came from. If it was an update or two we'd be looking at a $100 bucks not $1000. I would have been ok with the $1000 if Kaberle was traded.

Seriously, Dude?
You're blaming Ek for your bill because you don't know how to operate your BB and/or were negligent, or failed to adjust your HB settings for the site?
... And you "would have been ok with the $1000 if Kaberle was traded?"

you remain positive because you have to. it invites more ppl to refresh your blog and come to this site. people are negative because the NHL and the NHLPA have given us nothing to be positive about.

I have never seen an update turn on my BB before....

These meetings if they are happening are to form the Pygmy Goat Racing League otherwise known in the Philippines as the Minny NASCAR. The winning goat of the first season will get to choose the outcome of the lockout by chewing on either Bettman or Fehr's pant leg. Once established the NHL will be the opening act for Pygmy goat races in which both America and Canada embrace as the new national sport.

Is this serious? I can't see this sort of thing catching on. Maybe there will be a bit of a fad to it to start, but after a while it'd die off fairly quickly. If hockey is already 6th fiddle in the States, how do you think this would take over for Baseball, Football and others?

Don't let them get you down, the internet is full of negative nancies, and the comment sections to these blogs are obviously no exception.
The emotions you feel now are not unlike how us Leaf fans felt for years whenever Howie attempted to undercut and belittle our attempts to remain positive.
