Bettman and Daly need to go.
According to the NHL Constitution, Article VI, section 6.1: preserving public confidence in the League.
They have failed to do this and should leave office effective immediately. The only interest they have is for the owners. Go figure!!! - rooboy
you could just as easily say they're trying to protect the league from a dangerously self-serving union that refuses to acknowledge its role in financial viability.
so essentially, hopefully Fehr and Bettman both have their tongues cut off, wrapped in sandpaper and nails and shoved up their fat asses so they'll be forced to move aside.

"If you only love hockey because the NHL exists then I get it. But if you love all of hockey and want to watch it at its finest then you are just hurting yourself."
Hockey at it's finest is not the NHL. Come watch my son's game on the weekend and see a bunch of 9 year olds giving everything they have. Just for the love of the game and just to have fun.

To propose a new revenue sharing model that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, but have a little fun on a boring Friday afternoon.
Thanks for playing, everyone. - Atomic Wedgie
Makes no sense??? A $600M revenue sharing pot could solve everything. And, if the Leafs and Habs can take a fair share of that too, everybody is happy.

BAM!
Now the fans need a celebrity spokesman to represent us. Any ideas? I vote Vicne Vaughn. He's a hockey fan who will mock the poop out of any opposition.

I will be needing help from the Red Cross as well as the National Guard shortly thanks for asking. Everytime you post it's an incredibly douchey comment. Consistently a douche, good job

Ok. Let's say the NHLPA is only concerned with Crosby, Ovechkin, Kovalchuk, Suter, Weber and Parise. - Jacob582
Not really.
And its not even the player names, just the contracts.
For example, I bet they really don't care about a guy like Giroux, because they know he will get a mega contract when his deal expires in the next few years.
Likewise, I suspect the NHLPA cares more about Dipietro's contract than the Islanders, The Islanders fans, and even Dipetro's parents.

I ref OMHA every single week, got 4 games tonight ranging from 9 - 18 year olds
ill tell you one thing, you dont have to go very far to watch amazing hockey. If you go watch a AA or AAA midget game at your local arena it will blow your mind some of the skill these kids have

Look at that from the Flyers prospective. Many fans are in favor of limiting contract term, from what I've read. So say it's 5 years like the League wants. And just for conversations sake, say the cap is around 50M. So if 20% is Max salary, then Max salary is 10M. If Giroux continues to be one of the top players in the League, then he's going to want top dollar. Why would he take less then the max? So with the ability to sign players to long term deals with low years on the back end, removed. Your looking at a player with a 10M Cap hit, which will be 1/5th of the total cap. Not going to be easy to re-sign top players for teams.

hahaha ..good stuff... I needed something to brighten my day.
can I get the schedule for the 9 year olds... I need to see the love of the game
he never said his kid has the most talent in the world, he said at its finest
his kid goes out for the pure joy of the game, win or loose hes there because he loves it
the NHL players get a minimum of half a million dollars to play and still complaining.... hockey at its finest? - nightmare3020
Hockey at its finest is still the NHL and always will be, saying otherwise is just stupidity.
You are all in here whining about the lockout because you want to see hockey at its finest...which is no question the NHL.
He was quoting Ek saying the "finest", not the "purest"...so his lame comparison to his son makes zero sense. The purest form of baseball is watching it down in the Dominican, but that doesnt make it the finest form of baseball.
