Anaheim will have over 37M in cap space (if cap stays at 70M)...they will give them what ever they want, they can't afford to lose these 2 guys. I don't see them going anywhere. - Symba007
Purely speculation on my part .....but, I just wonder if they might be a little pissed at the Ducks for not having received one of those lucrative long term deals under the new CBA. |

The Islanders have around $36 million in cap space as well, they may decide to spend some money leading up to the new building. |

if they were going to lock them in long-term, you'd think they would have done so before the lock-out, along the lines of Parise/Suter.
Now, with the season toast, they become UFA's. They sign to the highest bidder.
My guess, their first choice won't be Anaheim. |

well the ducks lost 8.4million last year
ownership may have put a hold onto any long term deals until the new CBA is in place so that will be able to see if they can afford to retain them

Islanders spend money? They're only at the Cap Floor because they have 9 mil invested in two guys who never play for them |

Not sure they'd have any interest in T.O. anyway ....but in the new CBA world maybe BB's rhetoric doesn't look so bad. |

this is honestly why i questioned the carlyle signing
if it is burke's plan to go after one or both of those two why did he hire the coach that they quit playing for once?
doesnt add up. |

Zajac will also be an interesting one.
NJ Devils are teetering on bankruptcy, Brodeur is getting very old, Parise has jumped ship.
I'd bet a dollar he goes elsewhere (UFA on July 1st, 2013). |

I'm still pissed we didn't sack Wilson earlier and hire Hitchcock.
Another opportunity wasted. |

If Hiller gets over his Vertigo they'll be ok, like 7-12th in the West ok, but ok nonetheless. |

I think it's a good assumption that these two guys (turning 28 next year) were looking for the big 10+ year contracts that all their peers were getting. If the Ducks said no thanks then there "may" be some spillover.
Everybody knew - back in the summer - that these contracts would be limited so it was their only/last chance at getting one. Maybe, just maybe, that'll cause a little bad blood.
If that's the case ....which teams have the need, cap space, etc. ... to sign one or both next summer? |

agree.
john davidson seems to know what he's doing as well...if the Leafs had any intention of not renewing Burke, they mighta missed a chance to replace him. |

there is something that doesnt smell good in anaheim
just look at gardiner.. the ducks defense had more than enough space to accomodate him with a full time nhl role yet he went to toronto where the intention was to keep him in the AHL at first.
makes a person wonder why. |

There's also Justin Schultz refusing to sign with them for reasons unknown. |
