so they are for real playing in leagues that are sub par to the NHL? what are you going to say when they inevitably struggle in the NHL? |

They were rushed - Lahey
Its unfortunate they are in a situation where they need to be rushed. I look at how the Bruins were able to ease Seguin in to the NHL and now he has really turned into a stud. If Tambellini is smart he'll leave Schultz in the AHL for the whole season if the NHL comes back this year. Or at the very least play him as the 6th Dman and a handful of healthy scratches. Its not like hes in a good defensive system where he can learn from others. |

I would feel better about this list if Dallas, Florida, Nashville and Columbus weren't all train wrecks financially. - Maxbone
And Pittsburgh was a train wreck financially too before Crosby.
And when Crosby head is finally a train wreck they'll probably go back to being a train wreck financially. |

Keep in mind that the Oil are not the only team and fans benefitting from the lockout.
Leaf fans are loving the lockout. It's almost November and the Leafs haven't been eliminated from the playoffs yet. |

The KHL is a lower league than the NHL but it's still a league with some decent talent. The main thing Yak and Schultz are showing right now is just that they aren't out of place playing in pro leagues with bigger tougher opponents.
I don't think Richard is trying to say "They're dominating the AHL and KHL therefore they will dominate the NHL." He's saying they've made a huge leap up from the competition they usually play against and they're still thriving. |

They usually don't get eliminated until about 55% through the season. First they make sure they win enough games to drop out of a good draft spot**
**unless someone else owns that first round pick. In which case they drop straight to a great draft spot |

Schultz isn't a raw rookie. He's NHL ready.
There's a reason 26 teams made offers to him and he's leading the AHL in scoring.
You don't hold a guy back if he's good enough.

The problem with Schultz is that he made it clear he doesn't want to be in the AHL, hence why he signed with the Oil. Considering how well he's done there I wouldn't want him to sour if the NHL season was back and he ended up staying in the AHL.
I disagree about learning. Smid is becoming an elite shutdown player, N.Schultz is a steady defender who plays a very solid defensive game based around positioning. Then you have Petry and Whitney who can help with the offensive side of things, both of which came from College Hockey background that play similar styles. |

I see no indications of the greenback making any sort of a comeback anytime soon. I think since our dollar suffered for so long people think it's inevitable that it eventually will crash back. As long as fiscal management stays smart and no rash financial decisions are made, our dollar can remain strong for a long time. - sanfordnson
Here's hoping our loonie stays strong, but I recall the Alberta PC's saying the price of oil wouldn't go below $100 either. In fact I believe their entire budget is predicated on oil prices at or above $100 per barrel. |

The problem that many people have is why should Katz get all revenues from a new building when he isn't even putting up half his money to build it??
Cloutier, you make it sound like owning the building is a big deal for the city, Katz could care less about owning the building, hell he's getting all the revenue it creates, are you telling me that's a good deal for the city??
Hey, how about you buy a condo complex & i'll reap all the revenues from it, condo fees, rent etc,etc - it's the same damn thing.
Don't be blinded by Katz and his motives, he didn't become a billionaire without screwing people before. Yes i agree a new arena is needed but getting screwed over a barrel is not the way to get it.
If Katz wants full revenues then he needs to start stepping up to the plate because he hasn't yet, he's already backed out of a deal & anyone who says the deal wasn't complete is a fool.
How is god's name did the city not make Katz throw 100m up front instead of the payments over 35yrs is one thing but to take all revenues from a building he doesn't own is beyond me and plenty of other people around Edmonton. |

At this point I really don't care who builds the arena, as long as it doesn't involve Northlands in any way. Those clowns couldn't run a successful lemonade stand. |

If Mitt Romney wins you may see a rise in the USD, although it may only be temp, as investors may have renewed confidence in the American dollar. |

Tarasenko has as many goals in fewer games, 3 times as many assists, a better +/-, and all from less TOI. Yakupov definitely looks good, but as far as being "Rookie of the Year material"... He's not quite keeping up with the people he'll be competing with for that award over there, so it's rather presumptuous to think he will over here. |

They've played the same amount of games. And you do know tarasenko is 2 years older than yakupov right? I'd say he's keeping up admirably. Also yakupov has 2 years of North American hockey under his belt compared 0 for tarasenko. Tarasenko is an awesome talent but your argument is pretty weak for taking yak out of the rookie of the year race |

Why does Northlands receive City, Provincial and Federal money for their projects and they keep all the profits?
Tell me what the difference is between Katz getting support or Northlands getting support. |
