Hopefully find another sports venue to devalue. I hear the Ducks are hiring.

Sorry, spell-champ. I'll address what I please. That's what a forum is for. Since we're correcting each other, Palmieri had 109 points in 113 games so, technically, he wasn't at a point-a-game. - trolleytracks
You address what is easy to defend through rhetoric.

How is it embarassing to me? I'm just giving you facts. You brought up the "winning anything" so I responded. Maybe you should finish elementary school before you try to call someone dense. - trolleytracks

EVERYTHING JAYZ touches turns to gold...........wait till all the hip hop artists start rocking the isles jerseys.
Sidenote: i really hope they change the colors to the nets new color. I'd love a dirty black uni - kindlyrick
I just vomited in my mouth. The last thing I want is "hip hop artist" wearing my teams jersey. I hope to god they don't change anything about the color scheme and leave everything status quo. |

"There will be no more tailgate parties, no post game cocktails at Champions, no Chris King radio broadcasts from The Blue Line and no Season Ticket Holder picnics at the park on Hempstead Turnpike. New fans will have missed the Islanders Business Club, the Meet & Greets at Gate 1, the Town Hall Meetings, the bands and balloons on opening days, Jello shots with the GM and Dominick’s Islander Mania bar-b-ques."
ALL THIS CRAP YOU LITSED IS PART OF THE REASON THE ISLES ARE A LAUGHING STOCK. BUSH LEAGUE PR.
NOW THAT THEY'RE IN A ENW ARENA WE CAN REPLACE ALL THE ABOVE: STARTING WITH REAL RADIO BROADCASTS(KING CAN STAY HE'S GOOD, HE SHOULD TAKEOVER THE POORLY WRITTEN BLOG), MEETINGS WITH REAL FREE AGNETS AND NHL LEVEL COACHES INSTAED OF TOWNHALLS, POP ALL THE BALLOONS, SEND THE EMBARRASING BANDS BACK TO MULCHAEYS AND MOST OFF HAVE A GM NOT DO JELLO SHOTS BUT HIRE A GOOD PLAYER DEVELOPMENT STAFF.

He's actually technically, historically wrong.
The Toronto Arenas and St. Pats are considered to be forerunners of the Toronto Maple Leafs, so the NHL and Hockey Hall of Fame credit the Leafs franchise with 13 Stanley Cup wins.
The Ottawa Senators, however, are a different matter.
Depending on whom you ask, the original Ottawa Senators can claim 10 or 11 Stanley Cups (The NHL says 11, the Hockey Hall of Fame 10).
But the Senators eventually relocated to St. Louis and played as the St. Louis Eagles for one season before ceasing operations. The league bought back the team and folded it.
But in a move of incredible stupidity, nobody in Ottawa or the NHL thought to "revive the original franchise" and sell it to the Senators when they came back into the league (this would have been so easy, as technically the league would have still owned the original Senators). Instead the NHL issued a "new" franchise.
Yeah, it's always pissed me off.
So bottom line, the 10 or 11 Cups are from a different franchise, but they share a name.
Don't be fooled when you see the 11 banners hanging from the rafters - they belong to another team. |

i doubt any ahl team would go into a venue that side..its what has caused the death of the whale as they pay 25 grand a game to the XL center...the isles pay zero since they own it..it can be half full and they are making money and getting full consession and parking...who would of thought that wang can run one building correctly lol |

He's technically and historically wrong but it's a little ridiculous to get this technical to begin with...regardless of whether or not the original team was revived and ignoring that the league issued a "certificate of reinstatement" and that two separate records are kept for each team...resurrecting either through revival or certificate with such a long break in between is like being staunchly proud of a great, great, great grandfather when you were adopted.
It's tenuous regardless of what paperwork was filed.

Anyone who's upset about this should have their head examined.
This is a win-win as far as I'm concerned. Reading the local papers and some of the comments from "fans," I wanted to know what drugs they are taking. They are moving to Brooklyn, not Timbuktu. They will have the same name, the same history and the same logo. The only thing that changes is that they play in a World-class, top-of-the-line arena in an area where any player or potential UFA can live in the suburbs or live in Manhattan and not be far from their job.
I rag on Charles Wang a lot, and he, for the most part, deserves every ounce of it. He meddles in personnel moves, he says stupid things in relation to the sport of hockey, he makes a lot of head scratching hires and fires, but this is a decision where I have to give Wang a loud, raucous standing ovation. They are here for another 27 years and now you can take the train (easily, too) to get there. No more drinking and driving for the fans, no more asbestos, no more bottom of the barrel crap.
If you don't want to get on the train, so to say, then stay the hell off it, because if you're gonna use this as an excuse to not be a fan anymore, especially in this day and age of the Internet, then you never were one in the first place. Sayonara, don't let the door hit you on the way out.
In truth, I would have been an Islanders fan no matter where they moved. Could have been Quebec, could have been KC, could have been Japan, I'd still b an Islanders fan. Where'd they go? Brooklyn...yep...Long Island.
Kudos Mr. Wang, you deserve it. I gladly eat the humble pie. This is the best news since the team made its run in '93.
And Kate Murray and the Town of Hempstead...I hope you're (frank)ing happy. The Nassau Hub (as they now will call it) will be a dustbowl of low-level housing and mall-like stores. All the local businesses that thrive and make money because a pro team played within its radius will go out of business and hundreds, if not thousands, of jobs will be lost. You're getting killed by the fans, the people and the media, and you deserve every ounce of it you NIMBY, backwards, mother(frank)ers. The NVMC will be leveled within 5 years, guaranteed, and our dump, which WAng offered to rebuild and fund HIMSELF in '07 will be gone and every Isles game, concert, circus, etc. will have to take place somewhere else...a loss for us, a loss for kids and a loss for future generations. Congrats Ms. Murray, you got exactly what you were looking for. Take a bow, and eat another doughnut. Sleep tight. - potvin05

I saw this yesterday UIF and decided not to post it. This does not bother me right now. If the Isles continue to play DP if he is lousy and continues to keep Cappy if the team is lousy I will have plenty to say. |
