so I'm having trouble understanding the issue Dee is having, having never been to Long Island, maybe someone can explain it to me. Here in Vancouver, if I decided to go to a canucks game, it's a 30-45 minute drive through traffic, then expensive parking costs and a mess on the way home as all the cars leave together and create another traffic jam.

Our public transit is not a direct shot from our house, we'd be looking at about an hour, hour and a half to get downtown to the game.

If I was a canucks fan, this would be absolutely no issue, so why is a 45 minute trip for Dee the end of the world?

The players were probably hoping for something a little further away. Off-season re-cap for the Isles: They acquired Visnovsky but he tried to kill himself so he didn't have to play for them. PA Parenteau bolted the first change he got. The rest of their off-season work? Irrelevant. The Isles are a garbage organization from top to bottom, Wang included. Nut up and relocate to Canada or Seattle.

what're you....12?!?! How do you go from saying go the extra 25 miles to moving to Canada or Seattle? in the span of a few minutes? Haters are gonna hate, I get that, but a Sens fan talking smack?!?! Did you miss the school bus this morning?

People are used to jumping in their car and being at the NVMC within 20 minutes. We are spoiled. Now, you're a slave to the train, which, I would know I commute, the LIRR has a plan where they will run a train out of Atlantic Terminal (which is right under the Balclay's) every 15 minutes for like 2 hours after a Brooklyn Nets game. I don't see how that would be any different for after an Isles games.game. Train takes about 20 minutes to get to Jamaica where you can "switch" to whatever branch you need to take to get home. Is it a little inconvenient? yes. Should it matter? Hell. (frank)ing. No.

This team was going somewhere after 2015, that was a certainty, they didn't even leave Long Island. Besides staying put (which wasn't realistic), this was the best news any Isles fan could have hoped for.

If people from LI can commute to Rangers games into Manhattan then no Isles fan should have an issue commuting to Brooklyn. It is basically the same amount of time. The Rangers have a rather large contingent of fans around here, so, I don't want to hear any female doging. And...if you work in or around Manhattan, you can take the 2, 3 or the A train directly there. Less than 10 minutes from lower Manhattan.

This is a (frank)ing slam dunk.

Would you have rather flown to Kansas City or Quebec?

When the Caps moved from Landover MD to downtown DC, there were some in Maryland who were upset. Can't imagine that anyone would now say they'd rather be in Landover. Nothing like playing in a downtown arena with a vibrant pre and postgame environment.

Congrats, BTW, to Isles fans. This is great news for all of us who appreciate the long-standing rivalries.

I'm in Manhattan, not LI, so it's very different for me, I'll find it much easier to attend games. But I do have great sympathy for you and all the LI fans. Even if you still get to the games, it won't be the same experience. That's gotta be hard. I wish the powers that be had figured a way to keep the Isles in Nassau, but Brooklyn is better than another state, or country.

You're right. Its gonna be an even better experience now

Well it is is official after this blog I think it is time Dee steps down from her post. I mean really??? Do you even think before you write something?? Why would you be upset? These are not your 1970's Islanders. In fact this tema has been pretty much irrelevant since then. We finally have somthign to be happy about and you are crying about it?? We are finally going to be treated as NHL team, we might finally get free agents we might actually have a great team again and you are crying about it???

I dont know my friends but all I can say is LETS GO ISLANDERS, It is a new era and the beginning starts NOW!!

from the NYDN comment section...."This will truly turn downtown Brooklyn into a traffic nightmare. I hope there are enough economic benefits to area neighborhoods to offset the inconvenience"......yeah, thousands of fans dumping tens of thousands of dollars into your local economy by frequenting bars and restaurants.....god FORBID you should be "inconvenienced" by such a travesty! Geez, they've got NIMBY's in Brooklyn too!

2 words. Both proabably spelled wrong.

Mikail. Prohkorov.

Let's give Charlie a rousing round of applause for now, though.

Bottom line is any Islander fan who complains about this move is complaining for selfish reasons. This is the best thing that could have happened for this team. Even if they got a new arena in nassau it wouldn't have given this team the exposure it needs like Brooklyn does. Moving to B gives them the exposure they need and they will now bring in that corporate money as well. So god forbid you have to take a train to go to a game. Going to an Islander game will be an event for the first time in a long time. The best is how you hear people saying its almost impossible to get there by train. Its the same facking route to MSG expect you get off at Jamaica and walk 5ft to the next rail that drops you off at the steps of the arena. For every Long Islander who says they won't be going now that they moved to B there will be two new people taking your spot. The way salaries are today teams need that big time exposure and corporate money to survive. They weren't getting neither on the Island with a new building or not. Like somebody said earlier this isn't the 70's or 80's anymore. Adapt or Die!!!

What a baby. Go cry on someone else's shoulder. If it meant that much to you, hop on the train and go. You want it all.

It's time to move anyway.... your taxes will be going up with the loss of the Isles and all the business that goes with them.

Thanks your local politicians, and all the locals for voting against the new arena and project.

This is the best thing to happen to all the Isles fans in a long time.

Hopefully they get to move sooner... maybe the new developer will want the land before the end of the lease!!!

I've yet to really hear anyone complain about this move. Im confused as to why this move could possibly be thought of as a bad one. The LIRR goes directly across the street from the arena. Its a brand new facility, with another prof sports franchise owned by a billionaire and Jay Z (everything that guy touches turns to gold). The isles literally just moved to a large market being in up and coming brooklyn. Not sure if most have been hiding under a rock, but Brooklyn has really developed in the last few years. For all the suffolk fans crying..........how bout your Ranger fan neighbors who've been taking the LIRR to see their team at MSG for years.

Yes the move is bitter sweet, but its the right move, and to me there is no argument against it.

You don't sound bitter, Dee, just a bit sheltered. That big sort-of-triangular thing on the map north/northwest of the Cross Island is the rest of your state. It's not another country. Your team still resides on the southeastern part of that state, it's still well within traveling distance for you with no bridges or tunnels in between, and the team is still called the New York Islanders. Concerns about the building capacity and layout, I can understand until we see how they address those issues. But arguing that Brooklyn is some foreign land and acting like you need to learn another language to go there sounds sort of weak to me.
