I'd like to clarify some points. The NHLPA is negotiating with the NHL, not the individual teams that are losing money. And the NHL is making money. A lot of it. They took in record revenue last Season. League revenue grew by over a billion dollars over the period of the last CBA. And the Owners want the players to take a lesser percentage and an immediate pay cut. That's not fair.

Something should also be said that each time a CBA has ended and a new one was needed to be drafted Bettman has elected to more or less not be too willing to negotiate a new deal and take the league into 3 lockouts which is unacceptable and likely make him and the NHL a laughing stock to fans of any sport and each of the other leagues.

If there is obstinance and ignorance, how does that get fixed? If being stubborn gets in the way of learning the truth, how does such a scenario get resolved?

Sorry - I wasn't talking about any particular sports league. I was talking about an individual.

It to me will not be fixed while Bettman is leading the charge as commissioner. It will get fixed when somebody wants to have a financially sustainable league for the long haul and is committed to not only achieving that but maintaining it for all it's members (teams)

EXACTLY! Profits grew by a billion dollars+ C'mon already! How did they get that extra money? US! and by negotiating with their assets like schoolchildren they are screwing US! The players are getting paid playing elsewhere! I just wish these owners would wake up! THat and I'm blowing off steam because I'm sitting here on a wednesday night that would most likely have a hockey game and instead am left female doging about ANOTHER lockout after losing a whole stinking season 7 years ago! Ugh its just stressing me out I have other things to do and will be back in the 'morrow to do more of said female doging about said stupid lockout!

To clarify Joe, profits did not grow by a Billion. Revenue did. But it's important to make the distinction that they are not negotiating a split of profits, but of revenue.

I've been mum about Bettman's regime and didn't feel good about our fans taking part in the booing of him at the Cup presentation b/c it just makes us look bad. Anyway with another lockout I'm motivated enough now to get on board the (frank) Bettman train! There's a distinguished pattern here of lockouts and lousy negotiations! The players are almost all different each time, the NHLPA has changed figureheads, yet a common denominator remains..........

with that I'm out gnite!

You the man. Not much going on here.

A lot of my posts have been deleted mysteriously today. So I am bringing back a little edge to HB.

Also, trying to do a couple little charitable things this month. MS, Cancer, the Hungry. Don't have a lot of money or time but tyring to help even just a little. Some good causes out there.

So, we have to watch three (?) more seasons of games in Nassau Coliseum?

Sometimes helping others is just enough. Thats whats wrong with this world today not enough people wanting to help one another.

He's an Offensive line coach not a defensive coordinator. and Vick still plays QB like he's in a parking lot. Can't win with a Qb that refuses to protect the football. Had he not been so generous with those turnovers the Eagles could have squeaked out a couple wins going into their bye. now really gnite!

Agreed. More and more people need help.

We really need to turn this country around. Staying away from politics, some entities like habitat for humanity and many others are doing great things.

Tying this in to hockey - I know they do quite a bit. Same with Eagles. Good lessons for all of us.

Actually, they are negotiating a split of NET revenue, which is profits (not including player salaries).

They're negotiating revenue. It is not profits. The League did not have a profit of 3.3 Billion last Season. And that is what they're negotiating over.
