Both Canuck goalies are all-stars? Since when?

Gillis might receive more interest if the clause is in the new CBA. He might also consider moving Schneider instead(which I highly doubt at this point).
- Nucker101

Doesn't really make a difference to a team trading for him though, does it?

My head hurts...

In the next five years no, why would they be?
- LeftCoaster

They are screwed cause they will never get full value for him. Burkie clause or no Burkie clause

Well....when was the last time an all-star signed there? Mike Komisarek....Tom Connolly? See no top level self-respecting player will go there...not in the last 6-8 years anyways.

If I were Lu, I wouldn't want to come here either. He doesn't fare very well under intense media scrutiny eg. the Cup Finals.

Oh and Lupul!?
I will felate my dog if the Canucks get Lupul in the Luongo deal (given no other significant players are coming with Lu)

He has a contract until he is 45 years old. He has negative value. Vancouver fans can't figure this out. Be logical and take off the rose coloured glasses. Absolutely nobody will want that contract. End of story......You don't have to worry about Gillis "giving him away" because nobody will take him. Even having him until 40 years old is a huge risk. 45 are you kidding???

That hardly means they're screwed! They're a Stanley Cup contending team without Luongo, who gets 5 million dollars more cap space if he's traded, that's a good thing. How is that being screwed?

So wrong, he is still an elite goaltender, Toronto will make the playoffs with him. He is the answer Toronto needs.
- bradjc

Elite is very debatable. I'm not going to rag on him but his best years are behind. He still has quality hockey left in him for sure but enough to take on that contract? To give up anything of value?

In his best years on a much better team than TO he has been Jekyll and Hyde in the playoffs. How is that beneficial to Toronto? I agree he probably could get the Leafs into the playoffs next season but then what. He is on the downside of his career that is a fact.

The Leafs need either a long term solution or a short term veteran. Not a long term veteran.

These Leafs vs Canucks threads are site hits gold.

It's a nice change from the recent lock out themed threads.

Yes Vancouver is quite the ghost town. No body cares about hockey here and there's no media........ We have the most pessimistic media there properly is. If Luongo could flourish here Toronto wouldn't be that much different.

However there is this thing out west, it's called self-respect.

Luongo I think, has enough of it to not play for the leafs

He'll hold out for Florida until the bitter end! If that doesnt' work out, I could see him playing in Columbus before Toronto. They've got more young talent than Toronto and he wouldn't have to deal with the media.

Cap space is value in a cap world IMO, pure speculation anyways. When the deals done we can disect it.

HAHA so sorry for the mistake. When his contract expires, he'll be 44 not 45. So that means he's a super bargain......give me a break.
