I think he was hurt again, but don't quote me on that. Olesz is on the Blackhawks site, he's on the AHL/ECHL depth chart as the 5th RW, he's also listed on the "Prospects/In the system" roster page.
- DarthKane

You're right..I didn't see him on the active roster page or the Rockford roster list so I got optimistically excited.....

Baring a string of injuries, he'll never be a factor here.

Interesting to note that one Olesz is no where to be found...Not listed on the Hawks site as a rostered player, and not listed for Rockford.

God willing he gave up and went back to whatever lot he owns on crap island...

- SteveRain

Olesz, like Wade Redden and probably a few other guys who have NHL contracts won't be playing in the AHL. If I'm not mistaken, their NHL contracts make them part of the union, and they won't be allowed to play for their NHL club, or any of their affiliates.

Morin looked really good yesterday. The snipe over Lack's glove hand was pretty. Kruger beat Lack in the same spot.

Ya I was impressed with Morin. He was flying and has a great shot.
- Boinker

I was in attendance for Saturdays game, and I didn't get the impression Morin was "flying" around on the ice. In my opinion, he looked a step slower than most out on the ice when it comes to skating.

I didn't catch Sundays game where he plotted 2 goals. Was he moving faster on the ice for that tilt?

I noticed Beach is skating on the 4th line with Bollig and Flick. Could this be a way to keep Beach's head in the game?

Olesz wow Stan's best move yet...and who did we get rid for him oh that's right a Lady Byng winner...

again if you're scoring at home...its Vancouver's prospects 2 - Stan's kids nil...

The best part of the game was hearing Wayne belt it out like he used to at the old barn.

JJ...Mattson played in Sudbury last year...not the Sault. He's a big kid, covers a lot of net, but i recall he was kind of stiff. Maybe he's related to Crawford

Sad but true. He got slashed in fridays game where he played only about nine minutes and he was on the ice saturday and played the whole game. TT had five points in his last five games.

Oh crap, you're right. Thanks

Having been to both places and they're relatively close to one another, I think I transposed Sudbury and the Soo in my mind.

Only real reference I could find to Olesz status is this link which says he's hurt and was going to be out until Nov/Dec anyway.

http://rockrivertimes.com...%99-%E2%80%94-part-three/

NHL contracts are eligible to play in the AHL. (Beach, Kurger, Hayes, Bollig, Morin, Saad, Smith, Shaw, Pirri, Flick, Clendening, Olsen, Stanton, Lavin, Leddy, Lalonde, Hutton and Richards all have NHL contracts).

I believe at one point Olesz could have been an effective NHLer, but the Panthers rushed him into the NHL and fried his career. At least his agent (Alan Walsh) was able to get him one big contract.

You're being a little hard there, Ward.

Good friend of mine's dad used to be mayor of Sudbury.

The Soo is what it is. Never seen as much snow outside of the Rockies/Sierra Nevada before or since. And frickin' cold, too.

Based on what I've heard and can piece together intuitively, I think the Hawks took a gamble on a guy who had a very serious knee issue. If it paid off, they would have had at worst a solid third line player, at best a guy who could live up to some unfulfilled potential when surrounded by better players.

Not sure what happened in the Milwaukee Brawl Mike alludes to, but my guess is that knee is not coming along and maybe was re-injured then.

Not to be a Bowman Apologist, but everyone needs to remember that most people (except yours truly and Jay Zawaski) said Campbell's deal was untradeable—and most people wanted it dealt.

That Bowman did nothing to very little with the cap space (except acquiring Oduya) you can lay at his feet.

As I said, I'm not sure what the nature of the injury was Olesz took in the Milwaukee thing. If it wasn't the knee, then I still suspect you might see him play some kind of role eventually with the Hawks, especially if there are any injuries. The guy has talent and an NHL game when healthy, as Mike points out.

Olesz: wasn't the knee surgery two years ago by now?

Hope Rose doesn't take that long.

ACL is weird. Depends on patient, how the operation went, how much scar tissue is there, response to rehab and the PT's adjustments if going well or going poorly. The whole running, jumping, starting, stopping, turning, impact of basketball can make it more complicated.

Anyone else really not care if the hockey thing gets resolved anytime soon at this point? I was pretty excited for the year to start but now I really don't care and even if it were to start in two or three weeks I don't think I would be to terribly enthused. In enthused I mean go out of my way to watch every Hawks game possible like I have since they were resurrected after the old man died.

Agreed on the ACL, also on the lethargy.

But I will say this. I think once it's solved (and I still believe it will be), you will find enthusiasm starting ramp up. I think the way we feel now is sort of a pre-emptive sense of preparing emotionally for no season. Also, I hear there will be lots of trades and the Hawks will be busy.

I can't say that I've been following this closely but I have a question about 1 thing I picked up. Toews is on record as saying that if Wirtz were in charge this would be over already. I think he had other positive things to say but that one stuck with me. Now this could be just posturing so as not to piss off the guy who signs your paycheck but I'm wondering if there is more there. From what I've heard, Wirtz isn't in that group of like 8 owners who are trying to screw the players. Is it possible Wirtz is pissed at the other owners for delaying and trying to get everything instead of just working to get an actual DEAL done. I don't know, I get the feeling Wirtz actually wants to see some hockey played. Maybe he's just afraid the fans will leave again.

On another note, why can't the NHL and NHLPA just sit down and literally negotiate a deal. Why does one group have to present an offer and then a counter offer is followed days later? Sit down bring up a copy of the old CBA and get out the red ink and start negotiating and make corrections as you go through it.

The NHL presented and NHLPA with an offer today and it's a 50/50 split. That may seem postive at first but if the two sides can't agree upon a definition of "hockey related revenue" it's a moot point. Although it would be a win inthe court of public opinion for the owners.

Definitely a win for the owners in the court of public opinion. Pressure is now ramped up squarely on the NHLPA, especially since Mrs. NHLPlayer noticed that there was no direct deposit into her bank account yesterday.

So the manipulated and planned lockout to lose games is now being offered back as an incentive for an agreement. Take this offer to get a full season or continue risking losing the part or the whole season. I must say that is clever. Get what they want with no games lost.

I suspect the players will say nice try but.....

The owners are still clawing back from 57% and there has been no indication that they have dropped demands for extended entry level contracts, extending the age for full free agency etc.

So how does Bettman and the league look so much better in the court of public opinion? If anything, their new offer is a quiet admission that their initial plan was ill conceived and they have now recognized that Fehr isn't going to have any of that crap and the fan base is also not on their side.

Proves two things:

1) Toews is a smart kid.
2) I felt early on in this thing that there would be a fracture among the owners over this thing. Toews is taking advantage of that subtly with his comments.
