My case too...when they teach you comparative/superlative 7 straight years and there are still some who don't understand it after all those years...you have to find a way to learn it by yourself.

Henglish is not an easy language to learn.

Really? Which part of Quebec's history contained sovereignty?
- hscesq

As far as I know, they teach us about the "Patriotes" since as far as I remember.

do Brazilians fly off the handle and go into mass (frank)ing hysterics whenever someone speaks Spanish in their country?

I have no intentions of debating this today.

And yes it's because you come from Quebec.

nice!

in grade 7 or 8, one of our teachers was a huge hockey fan. so one day while we were doing group work, a few of us started talking to him about hockey in English. and he's all into it everything and we're talkin Habs and poop. in the middle of the convo, he fills out detention slips for all of us for talking english in class. it was like, really dude?

- DoubleDown

WTF? You seriously got detentions for speaking English in school? That has to be the most ridiculous thing I've heard this week.

A family friend was a Minister in Bourassa's government. She had 24 hour protection, interesting times to hear about.

well I get what they were trying to do. I send my kid to the same school becasue it's a good school and he speaks french anyway so not a big deal.

I think for a lot of the students that didn't come from francophone families though, it just made them resent it more outside of school.

The "sovereignty" in itself never happened (yet anyway), but it's not something that can simply be brushed under a carpet. As seen with the patriots, La crise d'octobre 70, 2 referendums and, more recently, the election of a separatist government.

A bunch of Francos got up and wanted sovereignty. They all got hanged except a couple who fled to the US and we now have a holiday in their honour.

End of story.
