The results are that they folded and moved. In less than 5 years. Pathetic.

They folded? That's weird, I thought the owner bought them to move them. Oh right, he did. You really don't know much about pro sports, do you? I live on the East Coast and know more than you!

Like I said, for the centre of the hockey universe, Toronto should be able to get more fans to their AHL games than other cities do to their junior league games. Do you agree or disagree?
- woopstash

The center of the hockey universe would have the most valuable hockey franchise in the world, and the majority of the mainstream media covering hockey.

Must be Halifax.

that moment when you say "youve seen them win 3 cups" which was most likely on tv, but your still no where in pittsburgh or to celebrate amongst other pittsburgh fans in pittsburgh, when you dont have friends in pittsburgh most likely and live in halifax. So congrats, would you like a trophy?
- Mapleleafs_91

I was actually in Pittsburgh in 2009 when they won. That moment when you were wrong.... AGAIN.
Did you ever bother to ask WHY I support the Penguins? Or did you just assume I randomly chose them. Hmmmm, maybe time to stop assuming so much? Would be helpful if you want to stop looking like an ass most of your posts.

I'm not whining, I hate the NBA. But you should get your facts straight. It's helpful when trying to make an argument.

Given that they support that team more than any other AHL team located in a city with an NHL team, no, I don't.

Most AHL teams won't even locate in NHL cities, because they'll just get ignored and end up moving. Its only cities that have nothing to compete with it that pack the place. Places where they're the big attraction.

do those Jr teams directly compete with an NHL team in the same city? often playing games on the same night at the same time?

Agree to disagree then. I would think that such a hockey mad market should draw more fans to an AHL game than junior teams do in places like Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver etc.

For a guy slamming fans for not supporting their local product, he sure does make a good point by not supporting his local teams...ie Canadian teams.

Hey genius, I have family in Pittsburgh, it's not exactly out of my way. Didn't I just warn you about assuming? Feels great to see your favourite hockey team win the Stanley Cup, doesn't it? Guess you wouldn't know.

Just like you cheering for the Canucks and the Habs when the Leafs predictably miss the playoffs each year, right?

Halifax to Pittsburgh...not out of the way at all.

10 minute bike ride or a 40 second walk...no biggie.

I would expect the centre of the hockey universe to have collectively have more NHL, AHL, and junior teams than anywhere else. I'd expect actual participation in the sport to be higher than everywhere else.

No other city supports their NHL team like the Leafs. No other city has three junior teams, and two more within a short commute. No other city also has an AHL team, and ANOTHER in its territory. There are more NHL players from Toronto than any other city in the world. There are more registered hockey players in children's leagues than anywhere else in the world.
If not Toronto, then where?

Why would I cheer for them? I cheer for a team already. One is enough.

Im already into baseball by the time the playoffs start and my team is out.

But NONE of their teams get supported other than the Leafs. That's the thing. Pretty much all the junior teams have bad attendance, the AHL team has bad attendance. Only the Leafs have good attendance. And don't try give me the "There's too many teams to cover" excuse. How many NHL, AHL and OHL teams are in the GTA?
