Its actually an interesting point..... what other cities, in any sport really, support a team that is in the second best league in their city? Places like Halifax or Quebec City, sure, they'll go to Moose head and Rem parts games. But that's the best they have to offer.

What's the attendance Ike for the Montreal junior team?

- prock

dunno...but there's a reason their AHL team is technically in a Leafs market...

Actually you did. You said Toronto doesn't support their teams. They do. You were wrong. Again.
- Two_For_Truth

Where did I argue that Toronto doesn't have pro sports teams? Oh, I didn't. Exactly.
And ya, I did say they don't support their teams. And guess what? So did other Leafs fans! Go back and try reading the posts again. I think you can handle that.

...You've never been to Halifax have you?
I'd love to hear what you think it's like out here. Everyone cheers for whatever sports team they're closest to? Is that really how you think it works?

- woopstash

no.. most of them old enough to know anything cheer for the Leafs

Must be why they don't have those teams right? Because they can't support them.

he biggest faction of toronto sports fans would be Leaf fans. "Toronto sports fans" is 80% Leaf fans. By calling Toronto sport fans fair weather, you're calling Leaf fans fair weather.

80% of the people you just called fair weather are possibly the most loyal fans in the world to the Leafs.

Or are you trying to tell us that you think toronto sports fans are fair weather when it comes to the teams that aren't their favourite?

- prock

You're getting desperate.
Leafs fans told me they support the Raptors and Jays only when they win.
That's the exact definition of a fair weather fan.

Actually a lot of Habs and Bruins fans here. Habs fans are pretty bad too. Leafs fans have been declining in recent years.

Because as we all know, just because there is a sports team in a city, that means it's being supported fully.
Look at the Coyotes, Pacers and Sacramento Kings. Just because you have a sports team it doesn't mean that people support it in full force. Teams with better attendance have relocated.

people spend money to go to games when they win. That's all sports teams everywhere...except the Leafs of course.

People still WATCH Jays and Raptor games, and are still FANS and cheer for them to win, but shelling out money to go to go watch a team play live you know is going to lose is just plain stupid.

EDIT:

What about Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver? They all support their junior teams even more than Toronto supports an AHL team.
- woopstash

There are THREE OHL teams in the GTA though.... plus an AHL team. Do those cities support their teams better than Toronto supports the Marlies, Generals, Steel heads, and Battalion combined? Plus an NBA team operating at the same time?

The answer is no, because those cities wouldn't support them, so they don't locate there. You're calling Toronto ans fair weather for bad attendance figures in other sports and minor league teams, when the only other city to have another major league team lost it, because they couldn't support it.

He's actually a Canucks fan. He's just temporarily bandwagoning to the Penguins in a disgraceful attempt to hide the shame of being a Canucks fan.

Actually it was because of ownership like I previously said.
Toronto is a big city. For the "hockey centre of the universe" they should be able to draw more fans than other cities do to junior games.

1) Hockey is bigger in canada than the US, way more viewings in canada, US is getting there though now since US teams are winning the cup. The two top historical teams in canada are the habs and the leafs. I wouldnt say we are the center but its a shared stage between the habs and the leafs. Always was sorta i would say. We are the most emotional fans in the NHL and expect alot from our teams each and every time they go out there to compete because of how many cups we have, because our historical presence.
