The problem is that there is too much to do in Toronto that fans cant support it every team in every sport at every level.

Toronto is as close to the center of the hockey universe as you can get. Whether or not the minor league teams can be supported.

- systemtool

Oh, now I get it. There's just too many awesome things going on. No wonder nobody shows up to Blue Jays or TFC games... Or even Bills games when they come to town.
Toronto only ever sells out Leaf games and maybe the odd Raptors game if a big name team is in town playing them. Other cities can draw larger crowds to their junior games than the "centre of the hockey universe" can draw at their AHL games. Kind of pathetic for the centre of the hockey universe, no?

The Bills are not a Toronto team. The Jays suck and dont spend. Why should fans pay to watch them? Or any team in Toronto for that matter. Toronto sports fans have too many options, and theyre not that great to begin with. It has nothing to do with being a snob or not.

I was commenting to the guy who said Toronto is a "major league sports town." and they don't support anything unless it's major league.
Yet they don't even support their major league teams.

Huh?
The Jays attendance also has to do with Rogers Centre being such a crappy venue. And the Jays suck...
Just funny how people think Toronto is the centre of the hockey universe yet they can't even support an AHL team.

Must be why the MLB and the NBA have done so well in Vancouver.

You really dont get it. All the options suck and are not worth paying to attend. The Leafs being the lone exception.

Other cities, which other cities? The ones that have only a fraction of the options Toronto does? Which other cities are we talking about here. Please, entertain me.

Vancouver doesn't have an MLB or NBA team...?

If they couldn't support the teams, they wouldn't have them.

Like the Grizzlies.

Because they suck and are not worth spending money to see. It has nothing to do with whether or not there are fans willing to support a worthy product.

Thats like saying someone isn't a movie buff just because they refused to spend money to watch Stuart Saves His Family.

I'm just saying, if it's the hockey centre of the universe than why do other cities draw more to their junior hockey teams than Toronto does to an AHL game? It's one step below the NHL. You'd figure the centre of the hockey universe would likely sell out or at least come close to selling out their AHL team. Like other have said, what we can conclude is that Toronto is a Leafs town, not a hockey town.

Again, what other cities?

So Toronto isnt the center of the hockey universe because it has a massive fan base following the Leafs and not as many following their development team. Are you just pretending to be an idiot? Is this part of the whole troll job package? Because I do believe we ordered the basic troll package, and were not paying for anything more.

Hey, you don't have to convince me that Toronto teams suck. I've been saying that for a while.
Like I said, it's a Leafs city. Nothing more, nothing less.

I posted a list on the first page of the top 20 CHL attendance teams. Some big cities on there and some very small cities. Someone said the average attendance for Marlies games is only around 4 or 5,000? If all those 20 teams can better support a junior team, why can't the hockey centre of the universe support an AHL team?

Its a sports city that only rewards one of their teams for failure.

How many of those cities have teams in every pro sports league but the NFL. None except Toronto.

Besides, why are we using the CHL and the CHL alone to judge what is deemed a hockey city? The NHL does have only a fraction of the following as the CHL, but we shouldnt ignore them.

I'm using the AHL and CHL, you know the other 2 big hockey leagues that exist in Canada? And Toronto area attendance in both is awful.

Thats nice.

But the NHL, which trumps both of those leagues, has an excellent attendance, a large fan base, is the most valuable franchise of any hockey team in the world, with a season ticket waiting list that spans decades...that just makes your whole arguement silly.

Great, so it's very similar to several other hockey markets. That's nice.
Except that they can't support an AHL team or junior team along with with the Leafs like other hockey markets can. Hmmmm...

Halifax actually. Toronto buy some new cop cars to replace the ones they burned in the riot?

No, having the most valuable hockey team in the world is not very similar to several other hockey markets. Thats nice.

Expect that just makes every other arguement look childish in comparison. Except that those other markets are not sports cities.
