Attendance figures for the Panthers mean squat.

They literally give tickets away.

Which would have been my next point.

If it weren't for snowbirds, the Panthers would have been relocated already.

A few years ago, the attendance record was set when the Habs came to town.

And a promotion like that in Totonto, would incite riots.

Maybe they should do that for the Marlies.

1) Tampa won a cup, you dont get rid of franchises that won cups.

2) I like going to florida to watch cheap NHL games on vacation, BACK OFF

- Mapleleafs_91

Exactly. I go to 6 - 10 Lightning games per season. St Louis and Stamkos are amazing.

Not a traditional hockey location but rink is easy to get to by car, airport close, team entertaining, and attendance not terrible?

Tickets are dirt cheap or free. Not a good location at all. It's in Sunrise. Middle of nowhere. Airport is not close. Closest major airport is in Fort Lauderdale and it's at least a good 30 to 45 minutes away. Most years, the team sucks and the only sellouts they get are when they play the Habs or the Leafs.

One hockey team in Florida is enough and without Stamkos, even one might be too many.

Toronto is not a hockey town. Or sports town. They show up to Leaf games and that's it. Can't blame them. All their teams suck.

They show up to Leaf games regardless if the team sucks or not. Aside from that, its a city that only supports winning and doesnt care much for losing. When the Jays and Raptors were respectable the buildings were packed. Same with the TFC. But the losing has gone on so long, fans have been turned off.

Much like how it was in Pittsburgh with the Pens...and how they almost folded and left the league. Losing does wonders, except in rare cases like the Leafs.

Toronto is a "major league" town.

They'll support the NBA, NHL, MLB, and NFL but nothing else.
Argos can't draw
Marlies wont draw.
The IHL in its day couldn't survive with the roadrunners.
IF its not "major league" then it doesn't get support in T.O.

Ya, good point. Toronto sports teams are all pretty brutal. Almost to the point where it's funny. I mean really... How can all these teams from the same city all be so crappy?

Didn't they have to give away thousands of tickets when the Bills came to Toronto? And aren't the Jays usually near the bottom of the league in average attendance? Toronto sports fans are sports snobs.

Huh?
The Jays attendance also has to do with Rogers Centre being such a crappy venue. And the Jays suck...
Just funny how people think Toronto is the centre of the hockey universe yet they can't even support an AHL team.

The problem is that there is too much to do in Toronto that fans cant support it every team in every sport at every level.

Toronto is as close to the center of the hockey universe as you can get. Whether or not the minor league teams can be supported.

The Bills are not a Toronto team. The Jays suck and dont spend. Why should fans pay to watch them? Or any team in Toronto for that matter. Toronto sports fans have too many options, and theyre not that great to begin with. It has nothing to do with being a snob or not.
