Ah, screw it. Let's just throw up our hands and....

Oh, wait. Most of us are doing that already.

Might want to tone it down a little, though. Mossad rivals the FBI in terms of subterfuge. You don't want to get on a "bad list" before visiting Israel next year.

More seriously, I vacillate between anger and apathy. I'm like Metallica - I sometimes feel I don't want to waste my hate on the NHL & NHLPA. They're wasting no love on us.

This is all speculation. But I don't see Hockey happening until 2013, if at all. I see at least a few months of negotiations. Then you need to get all the players back, and then have training Camp and some kind of pre season. Both sides are dug in for the long haul.

“I know the league’s future is bright, and this will be to the benefit of the game,” Bettman said in July 2005. “We had no choice but to get it right.”

i want to kick him in the balls with my skate on. actually, much worse. and i don't give a flying (frank) if he's not truly to blame. 3rd lockout on his watch. it's beyond unacceptable.

To clarify, that was in July...but I wanted to show that I had the right guy in the right job.

That's why I said I'm not sure. I heard his title labeled differently in other news sites.

I think it's a pretty safe bet that the Flyers aren't going to hire a former player that has zero experience for a high level position that Luce held, or holds. Dave Brown held the position of Director of Player Personell. So that seems more likely to me. Again, I'm not sure. I'm just trying to figure it out.

Yeah, because the Flyers site (PR department) is likely to be less accurate describing the function to which he is being appointed than the ever reliable Philadelphia media.

There is also a subsequent article talking about Brown and his work in his Player Personnel role, so he's still there.

I got that. I remember when they gave him the title.

Does not change my sentiments one bit

Keeping following the trail, Inspector Bo. You'll find the Luce goose soon enough.

I LIKE the man! Just wonder if he's ill or something. If he retired of his own free will, that's fine. But it would bother me to think he'd been pushed out.

In a simple terms of getting a title wrong, very possible that they did. Again I'm just trying to figure it out. Which is why I included that I'm not sure.

Don Luce has been working in an NHL Front Office since 1984. He oversees the Phantoms, and oversees the development of drafted players. He is a former Assistant Coach in the NHL. It doesn't seem to me like the Flyers would put Laparierre in that high of a front office position right off the bat.

I agree - and wrote a similar line of questioning back when Lappy was announced as the new Director of Player Development. However, on one of the threads here this past summer, Luce was still in the "group" shots during the NHL Draft.

It's a headscratcher.

Not without a capable mentor... like Luce.
