Eakins is to blame for telling the TO media his fat % is too high. He had to know the media would spin that into a big news.

Eakins took the high road here and I have to give him credit. He should have got the Leafs job, not Carlyle. I do hope that Cherry does go down and see's him and the Marlies.

Don Cherry doesn't defend the Leafs. He's constantly criticizing them and the people who run the team. Don Cherry cheers for the Leafs and occasionally defends certain (Canadian) players on the team. But he doesn't "defend them to death".

The Fort Wayne Komets were in the CHL (Central Hockey League) last year. They must have been recently promoted or relocated after winning the CHL championship.

Given recent success he's bang-on questioning it..

I get it ...u look at it a different way..

They weren't long sending Schenn to the wolves either, i have spent way too much time defending both Schenn and Kadri on leaf threads versus leaf fans who buy up the media hype and bs more than any fans i have ever known. Schenn as a defensive Dman was certainly drafted way, way, too early in the draft by the leafs IMO. Not that he was a bad pick, but you would expect a Dman with some serious offensive upside at that pick, not a solely defensive Dman.

As for Kadri, the media and even the whole organization as a whole have been picking this kid apart since day one, they really have. Not sure why? I figure if he can't make the team this year and do really well, maybe there is a reason to worry, but Leaf fans have this thing where they have to hate every pick and prospect and cant wait til they are traded for 35 year old washed up players to fix the now, that i have never seen before in a fan base. Seems like making the playoffs now, and selling the farm to lose in the 1st/ 2 rounds really outweighs the staying the course and seeing a plan albeit at a much slower pace and actually winning the cup through, has taken a side bar for making the playoffs and praying for the best, which rarely works....

Much like Ron Wilson, Eakins is far too open and honest with the media. He said it himself in that interview that he reads and follows everything that the media says about the Leafs. Right off the bat, that's a bad sign. A guy who pays attention to the media is going to get eaten alive in Toronto. Just look at Burke.

Eakins is a good dude, and i'm sure if he could have retracted he would. It is very true that Kadri has been talked about too much publicly, especially by the former coach. In truth, I wish Don would go down there, heck I wouldn't mind seeing him working for the team, he always seems to know how things are going to shake up. You can't find guys with almost 60 years of experience around pro hockey every day.

I think he should go down there to, but there is nooooooo way it is going to happen. Burke will not let him within 100 feet of that arena and team.
