The NBC puts exactly zero pressure on nothing.
They knew that a lockout was coming when they signed the deal.
If there is no hockey this year, NBC still pays the NHL, and in return, NBC gets NHL rights for an additional year.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but NBC has jack to do with this. - Atomic Wedgie
BUT,.............
NBC gets an additional year for FREE.
Based on the continuing growth, that additional year, which is tacked on at the end will be worth substantially more than the current year
Pressure exists |

The flyers are owned one third by Snider and the other two thirds by Comcast. Comcast is 87% owned by mutual funds and institutional holders.
Am I wrong? - faceto27
no, just saying what I had heard elsewhere.
serves me right for not doing my research |

NBC owned by Comcast owned by Snider who owns Flyers.
Not sure about any pressure from someone who is in the inner circle of the whole lockout. - braidan
Ed Snider does not own Comcast. He works for Comcast. |

The reason this is nonesense is because if the NHL is soooooo interested in seeing this new proposal that would work for them then why wouldn't they just propose it themselves? Wouldn't that make sense? - xxCHRISTOFIRExx
cause the players wouldn't agree to it, they have to be the ones that look like they are in control |

Why didn't he just dig another hole in the ground to cover it? |

That's real nice PR, but it's BS. Whose side do you think Terry Pegula is on in this lockout? - MJL
He has stated the players are asking for too much money. However he operates his business in the red because he not only doesn't care, but he wants to be competiive. Ironically he is a huge part of the current problem because of his willingness to overspend. |

Just for clarification, who is in their rights to fix what was broken on the last one? - MJL
They both are.
Yes the players gave up alot last time, but the owners gave up alot to get the structure in place as well. If the cap didn't work you can be sure the players would not have exercised their right to extend and they would be negotiating to have it removed in the new CBA.
BOTH sides have to do what is best for the sport.
Owners/players/agents will seek out loopholes to get the most money for the best players or the smallest caphit for their best players.
They need to have EVERY possibility spelled out in the next CBA and how it should be handled. |

He raised them to 23rd highest to not forgo funds from revenue sharing. |

I'd like to see the league use replacement players and those guys start a union and go on strike after a handful of games. |

I'm even willing to believe he got into the business out of love for the game. But a successful businessman like Mr. Pegula knows that love doesn't keep the lights on, and that kindness doesn't get the job done at the bargaining table. It's his job to get the best deal for the Sabres organization he can, same as every other owner. |

You realize that there is inherent profit in that the franchises grow in value over time? It's an investment and business, first and foremost. Most Owners want to be competitive and win. And nobody has accurate information on the true financial picture of teams, including Forbes. |

Thats the problem. We can sit here and hem and haw for months about who is wrong, but there isn't a nhlownergeek.com that tells us how much profit they get from the plethora of ads in and around every arena. |

Do you see the League doing anything in their proposals to fix the League? I don't. It's just more of the same. They want the players to foot the bill. The players are willing to give up hundreds of millions of future earnings along with increased revenue sharing from the rich clubs. Which the League rejected. All the League did is move some off of the base of the their ridiculous and asinine first proposal. |
