I wouldnt even watch a single game. Not even a shift.

With that being said, i am actually excited to see the KHL on E3...

- jak521

Yea I'd definitely watch the transplanted NHL in KHL form before I go the replacement player route. That's all part of the Global economy master plan anyway isn't it

To be fair, Fehr seemed to package entering a lockout into his strategy as well.

Who is going to be the replacement players. Pro players who aren't good enough to be regular NHL players are already in League's such as the AHL, ECHL, etc. young top players are in Juniors. What would it be, beer Leaguers or players below the above levels. I'm sure it would be some really good Hockey. I personally wouldn't want any players of that level donning the O&B and playing games that would count in the standings.
- MJL

Agreed. I'd really rather watch the Phantoms than whoever they bring in as replacements. At least then we're watching part of the Flyers organization, games relevant to the franchise, rather than a bunch of strangers we'd never see again.

I'm not giving my support to either side of this conflict. The way I see it, they're both ransoming the hockey I love for personal gain.

To me, the worst part is not knowing when or if the season will begin. At least if they had a date or a decision that there would be no hockey, then I could make peace with it.

Exactly my feelings. It's frustrating when all we have to go with is:
-"NHL is probably going to cancel (insert portion of the schedule) this week," and
-"No talks today, maybe next week or something idk lol"

Argh.

What's the deal with this ESPN3 thing? Is it free? Is it a download? I know nothing about it and I'm at work so I don't have time to check it out. Anyone ever use it? I'd never heard of it before today.

Oh well... the NCAA season starts on the 12th. That's what I did last lock out, that's what I'll do this time.

Unfortunately, I see it as business. The fans are just the collateral damage. If I had to choose sides, I'd be on the side of the players. The only problem I really have with the NHLPA is not being willing to start negotiating sooner.

it's all streaming. it's free but i think your cable provider needs to subscribe to it to be able to watch some of the programming.

if this was already answered I missed it my bad but any idea what happens with contracts if a whole year is missed as far as two way deals and one way deals? Would a year be burned off of all guys in the AHL but not guys with solely NHL deals?

Frustrating for you guys and wreaking havoc for me.

I get married November 17th. My honeymoon was supposed to be as planned.. St. Lucia for 8 days, Miami for 1, Toronto for 4 whilst catching a Flyers-Leafs game in Toronto. I was also planning on getting a luxury box as a part of the gift to my groomsmen.. yeaaaaa..

Most KHL games are already available (for free) online on a daily basis, but I'm sure these streams will be of better quality and have English commentary.

Bill great blog and updates as usual, big thanks.

Two things. Will todays phantoms game be on the phantomsradio site you posted a while ago to help us through all this, or will we have to wait for regular season matches?

Second, What is the schedule like the rest of the week for the Phantoms and are they in Vorhees again soon? I would like to catch some action.

Many thanks.

Yep, over the last five years I've watched some of those games but you have to be seriously interested to keep at it when you can't understand what they are saying. I managed to make it through most of Giroux's last season in the QMJHL in french.

This is such bullpoop. That's all that can be said.

Both sides have bullpoopted for the last year. And the fans have to listen to this bullpoop, knowing it's all bullpoop, and can't do anything about it.

It sucks. It's like watching your parents argue and then tell you everything is going to be alright.

We sit here and hear both sides are talking. Why do we even pay any attention? Everyone knows it's all bullpoop and all each side cares about is money. The players don't care about the fans even a shadow as much as the do the size of their revenue share. It's the sad but true reality of it all.

It's all bullpoop. All of it. Every word.

It's so depressing....

I think he's just trying to generate conversation (and site traffic) at this point. The idea of replacement players is interesting (though I'm not interested, I'd rather watch the AHL).
- BulliesPhan87

Walsh (the agent) was tweeting last night that Bettman wanted to introduce replacement players in November.

But you couldn't use the 2-way or young NHL contract guys playing in the AHL. So who do you use? And the AHL owners wouldn't release their contracted players. So who do you get, guys not good enough to play now in any organized professional league anywhere? The Mayor of Angrytown's son would be a Flyer.

I saw the tweets last night and told the Flyers that they'd never get another dime out of me if they tried to pull that. I got a call this morning from STH services saying it was all complete speculation. I pointed out that Carter and Richards being traded was all "speculation" until I went to lunch one day and came back to find them both gone.

Can you imagine if they held everyone who was a season ticket holder to their obligation and charged them full price for replacement players? I wonder how they handled that in the NFL when they pulled that crap.

They couldn't fill the SkateZone with paying customers for a replacement game.

My note to them last night included my intention to contact the PA Atty General's consumer protection office if they introduced the replacement player idea. Consumer fraud would be my contention. I do wonder if that's why I had a phone call at 10:22 this morning. I'm pretty sure I emailed them at about 2:30 this morning.

On a more positive note, if that happened, and they needed a tender, I'd be applying for my work visa..pack my pads and gear and be on the next flight to Philly.. Why wouldn't you want to support a good Canuck playing for peanuts? It could be buzzgate after every home game???

Players playing in the AHL would almost certainly count as a year on their deals. As far as the NHL players if the entire Season was cancelled. I don't know how that would be handled.

That seems like a designed Media leak to exert pressure to me. I'll beleive it when it happens. I posted earlier about who they would get as far as the quality of players for replacement players.
