Thank you. And I can echo your sentiments about the Leafs and apply them to the Habs. We might even move up in the standings!

With NHL'ers stealing jobs in Europe, it's only fair if the NHL uses scabs.

why replacement players? the owners are the one's who locked the doors. Just unlock them and honor the contracts they gave to the players. Boom, and play hockey.

I would have a feeling that any player that feels they have an honest shot at playing in the NHL would not touch the league in a replacement stand point... therefore you end up with a bunch of beer league players... the tickets better be given out for free and beers are a $1 for 48 oz if they want to attrack 1000 fans so watch that

Not a chance. I'm debating whether I'll even support these players again - same goes for the owners.

I'm supporting replacement hockey. WHL, CIS.

And I can't begin to tell you what I'd have to say if the Canucks, who are already holding my money for my season tickets pending a season, tried to peddle replacement players for the full value of what I've already handed them.

The poll is missing some options.

Do I support replacement players? I do. If players can walk away from the table and play elsewhere then why can't owners drop in replacements?

You don't hear owners crying about their players heading to Europe. Can you imagine the uproar from the PA if the owners did hire replacements? It's a massive double standard in my opinion.

Oh and I would go to a game or 2 if there were AHL prices

but aren't the owners the one's who locked the doors and are now unwilling to pay the contracts they signed players to?

just unlock the doors, I am sure every player will play while the new CBA is being negotiated.

Unfortunately it was the owners who told the players they were no longer going to be paid. The owners LOCKED them out.

How come we don't have a blog about the best all time trollers of the HB boards? Hell, if Columbus is having an all time team debate, we can sure have that one....

if it was the players on strike, I think the owners would have every right to lock the players out. In this case where the owners are forcing a lockout on all of us because they need to save themselves from themselves it's a ridiculous notion.

I just can't believe how stupid people are who take the owners/Bettman's side in this.

I am right there with you jb... its crazy to actually think this is a good idea.

I would boycott everything about it and just watch KHL on ESPN...

Why in the hell would I pay money to watch a bunch of beer league level players wearing NHL jerseys when I could watch AHL or ECHL hockey and get a better product?

Who comes up with this nonsense?

People who actually think this is reasonable are short-sighted and ignorant to reality. Do you honestly think playing with no contract in hand is a good solution? Furthermore, the players would LOVE the current contract to stand. It’s a foregone conclusion the % of revenues they take home will decrease (and rightfully so).

So, if the owner’s were to agree to continue playing under the current contract, what, exactly, is the motivation for the PA to negotiate a new contract? Why wouldn’t they just let it keep going as long as they can? And then, if they do this, what are the owner’s going to do, cancel it a few months down the line, when half a season is played? I’m sure when the players refuse to negotiate (because they won’t want to, obviously), you’ll be fully on board with the owner’s cancelling the last half of the season (at the fault of the players)….. Right? Can you tell me you’ll fully support that?

Then what? That leaves them, next summer, exactly where they are right now.

The whole “We’ll be happy to play while we negotiate” thing is just a PR ploy, like much of what is going on, on both sides. Some people just aren’t quite bright enough to realize it’s a ridiculous suggestion…..

Would the beer be the same, or would it be replacement beer too?

I think that if the play on the ice is going to be horrible, they should serve Steelback beer in the stands.

I would support it in a heartbeat. If the current players are so greedy that 2.5 million as an average salary isn't enough, they should try earning just enough to live on like many people out there. I don't see why the players need any of the hockey related revenues if they are already raking in millions of dollars to chase a rubber disc on ice 3 times a week.

I see, so, if the players were already striking, the owner's could lock them out. That makes total sense.

I wouldn't be calling people stupid for airing their opinions, while you do the same on something you clearly don't have the first clue about.
