Is she from the Honey Boo Boo show?

I must confess I watched about 5 minutes of it.

I'm so stupid I'm a Leafs season ticket holder, and even I couldn't watch it for more than 5 minutes.

How could anyone find that show entertaining?

That, my friend is the Billion dollar question. There are men who know the answer, and they are getting very rich.

HELL NO I wouldn't support replacement players. I had to suffer through that in the NFL in '87. Not going through that again.

It's a shame that we are even talking about replacement players. So sick of this crap with both sides.

If i were a fan of a front runner team like Pittsburgh I wouldn't want replacements either. The fans really losing out are the teams who should be competing for a cup this year.

However you got to realize great hockey is played at many levels. Thats what makes the sport great.

you've got big time high school football, several layers of college football and even a handful of pro arena leagues. and the NFL.

i agree there is other hockey to watch but die hards in all sports have alternatives to the very top leagues.

30 teams with 23 roster players each

thats 690 players

92/690 = 13.333%

that leaves 86.667% of players without salary income.

I think they are all getting paychecks at the moment... not from their teams, but from the Union.
They pay a portion each paycheck to save for strikes/lockouts. Not as much as they would normally... just means they take the BMW instead of the Benz.

Where do we get these players. Do we end up screwing up all the other leagues by taking all their players. That would kill hockey as we know it.

I'm glad you're not taking sides saying that the players should pay because the profitable teams don't want to doesn't bode well for your career as a mediator.

His point is valid though... what do 29 owners in the league care if 23 plugs lose their jobs in the NHL, and they don't have to keep a losing team afloat?

Obviously that 30th owner would be kinda pissed at losing his franchise

But the franchises that actually matter(make money) couldn't care less.

start bringing in replacements from lower leagues (guys that would be glad to ditch the union for the chance to play at the top level), and before long you'll have NHLers start to follow suit or leave for Europe. Most probably won't want to leave if there is the option of playing here. If that happens, the union either has to cave and give the NHL what they want, or continue to watch it's membership decrease until it's completely ineffectual.

Fans watch the NHL because it's the best hockey on Earth. It's the best hockey on Earth, because it employs the best hockey players on Earth. Anyone who would be a replacement hockey player, would probably not even be a top player in the CHL....I don't see how he would attract players to act as replacements without having a joke of a product on the ice.

Some of the games I've last year what I thought were a joke. But then again, I'm a Toronto Maple Leafs fan
