Not even close.. He has played 315 NHL games over 10 seasons.

there are top 3 picks that never play a single game in there sport.. So how you wouldn't rate them higher then him I have no idea. You are going on feeling rather then logic with this one.

how many of those top 3 signed a ridiculous contract and then fell apart at the seams?

Well umm ok but still one of the biggest bust in franchise history with all teh hype when we signed him. Dave Chyzowski might be up there too but DP has been nothing but a disaster for this franchise

Heard it was just a shoulder bruise but how funny would it be if he got seriously hurt over there and then NHL lockout was over. The Rangers will be back in the same boat relying on Henrik and Gaborik. To funny

Gaborik is the one who was expected to miss a chunk of the season, shoulder surgery I believe (?). Regardless, rooting for any teams players to get injured is a bit childish. I hate the Rag$ too but its not like I would root for their players to get injured. Same thing could happen to the Isles, Tavares could get mauled over in Europe. Karma dude....its a female dog

I gotta ask thou.. how much does LaFontaine love this Logo.. because the franchise has shlt on him more times then I can count & he still wants to save this ship.

That's what I'm saying. You know his heart would be 100% about the team and the on-ice product. LaFontaine would bring a credible face to the ownership of this franchise and instant respect from others around hockey. A coaching or GM position with the Isles would no longer be considered BS jobs.

Its the only chance this team has to gain that respect back. If not Patty somebody else has to buy this team from crazy charlie

Agreed...they need someone to whip them into winners...Crapuano is fine in the AHL but has no business behind the Isles bench, but at the same time he is a guy that snowjob can control....The Isles need a hardass couach to turn these boys into men!!!

He had a losing record so I guess he wasn't that great?

Lets be realistic here. Why would Wang sell this team after all this time/loss of money. At this point, id see Wang move this team off long island before I saw him lock in a loss. It sounds great on paper, that Lafontaine is trying to save the franchise, but in order for anyone (Lafontaine including) to buy this team, Wang has to be willing to sell. I dont see that happening. Wang has waited this long, and the end of the lease is around the corner. It would be a horrific trade for Wang if he sold the team now.......sorry NY Post, but im not buyin it..

Yes and no. Wang bought this team for one reason, the real estate of the lighthouse project. We all know that Wang has big regrets about buying this team after realizing he couldn't get what he wanted originally. Now with this lockout and owners further apart with big market and small market, maybe Wang has finally hit a breaking point.

Someone said earlier, if Wang can take a small profit from what he originally bought it for, maybe thats enough at this point. He bought it for roughly 180-190 million in 2000. I'm not sure if the Dragons were also included in that or not. If whoever decides that they are serious about this, maybe they meet somewhere in the middle of Forbes 149 million value and Wang's supposed 300 million asking price.

He'll sell it right after the lease expires or right around that time. He is not getting what he wants so he'll sell it because he was only in for the real estate to begin with. He got facked on that part of the deal and probably has had enough of the BS. Look at how hard the NHL is trying to keep the Coyotes in Phoenix, no way the NHL lets him sell the team to the highest bidder and they move. I'm sure he lost millions on this team but until I see actual documents stating his exact losses on this team then I'll never believe the numbers that are just thrown out there. Selling the team for around 160 million will not recoup everything but its still a nice chunk of change for that hack. He will get nowhere near 300 million for that team

Very true X. Patty loves this team. I really hope he runs the show. I'm not sure how Denis and Bobby and what they are trying to do fit into the equation? It's good there is some type of activity with this team and hopefully we get some very good news soon.

Very well said Vukota. No way he gets close to 300 million. I'm hoping the sale happens sooner but we are probably in for more waiting.

I understand what you're saying, and yes he bought this team for the real estate developement, BUT, there is NO WAY he sells this team on the lows. We're are in the worst economy since the depression, and there is no way after all the hits Wang has taken on this team, he sells this team on the low. It makes zero sense if you think about it. Why sell now, when he can wait a few years and rid himself of the lease at the coliseum, or actually move the team. It would be like buying a house in florida on the highs, and then now selling it, when you arent forced to, and locking in that loss. It just doesnt make sense..

I dont think it would make sense to sell when the lease is up. Thats when he can turn the profit around. Hes taken the pain already for the last 10 years. It would make sense for him to move the team before selling it.

Kindlyrick am I going to have to break out my Jedi mind powers on Wang? You will sell this team to Patty L now. You are not looking for 300 million. Patty L is the owner you are looking for.

Haha please do. The problem is, while it sounds great on paper, that Patty L will save the team.......who does he know that is able to come up with say 225 million dollars (im using a middle ish number). Sure he knows people with money, but not only does he need to come up with the cash to buy the team, but then you have the expense of a new building. The county has made it clear they are not going to subsidize a new building. So add to that 225 another 400 million for a new building (and they dont even own the land). When you break this whole idea down, it just doesnt make sense. I wish it did, believe me I do, but there's just no way Wang sells this team, and I dont see anyone coming up with the cash in this economy. Blumenfeld has money (i know of him), but not that kinda loot...

I think he is fine now. MSG did a feature on him last year and he seemed with it. He has a sick house right on the water with a rink in his backyard

I have buddies that have played there, it looks sick.

Patty played for the Rangers you trying to tell me he does not have 225 million lying around? I understand your points and it would not shock me if nothing happens. Things are never easy for Islander fans. Tonight I dream about Patty being Islander owner and Kate Upton is my wife.
