Poulin over Primeau without hesitation.

Great lineup, but at the end it will be hard to beat Montreal, Boston, Detroit or Edmonton.

Montreal
Goal: Plante and Dryden, sorry P. Roy
D: Harvey, Laperriere, Robinson, Savard, Lapointe, Tremblay
C: Beliveau, H. Richard, Lemaire, Toe Blake
W: R. Richard, Geoffrion, Lafleur, Shutt, F. Mahovolich, Elmer Lach, Gainey, Naslund

Boston
Goal: Frank Mr. Zero Brimsek and Tim Thomas
D: Orr, Bourque, Eddie Shore, Chara, Brad Park, with those top 5 they don't even need a sixth!
C; Milt Schmidt, P. Esposito, Jean Ratelle, Oates
W: John Bucyk, Cashman, Hodge, O"Reilly, Neely, Woody Dumart, Middleton, Lucic

Edmonton
Goal: Fuhr and Moog
D: Coffey, Lowe, Huddy, Pronger, Gregg, and Smith
C: Gretsky, Messier, Mactavish and Doug Weight
W: Kurri, Anderson, Tikanen, Nilsson, Ryan Smyth, Craig Simpson, Horcoff & Krushelinsky

Detroit
Goal; Sawchuk & Hasek
D: Red Kelly, Lidstrom, Coffey, Fetisov, L. Murphy, Pronovost
C: Abel, Yzerman, Delvecchio, and Federov
W: Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Howe, Lindsay, Brett Hull, Norm Ullman, Shanahan, Franzen

The Flyers might have a shot at Detroit and Edmonton, but Montreal is ridiculously deep at EVERY position and Boston's top 3 on D, Orr, Shore and Bourque are UNREAL!

Dont want to argue the merits of your comments, but you might as well add Chara and call it a top four. If a player is the best fighter in the league, biggest player, hardest shot, and one of best d, he needs some props. Chara would take a gee lafleur and make him look like a school girl.

My all-time team

G: Roy- IMO G.O.A.T. Best $ goalie ever. Dominant G during the leagues highest scoring era, wuld have dominated any era.

D: Borque and Listrom. All due respect to Bobby Orr but due to longevity and total package of skills, these are, IMO, the 2 best D-men ever.

F: Bure Gretzky Jagr. You can make the case for many wings due to skill-set(sniper, set up man) like Kurri, Selanne, Brett Hull, Stan Mikita, Marcel Dionne( who I had at first but had to replace with Bure). Imagine Gretz setting up Hull for that one-time from the off circle, but i cant see a better combo of size, setup and finishing skills of this trio.

Have at it

By the way, I stopped punching myself in the groin and feel much better.

How far was Lemieux for you from Gretzy. I agree with Gretzky as well, but they are pretty close.

You'll catch some hell on some of the old timers I bet, but that is my only comment.

Thanks so much for putting on this vote.. Lots of fun debating. I was too young to watch Macleish, therefore I couldn't vote for him, but having said that..I have a respect for Flyers history. I think Giroux is well on his way to being one of the greater Flyers of all time.. If by some miracle, he brings a cup here during his time, he's going to be up there.

Props to my man Hexy. That's one hell of a tending tandem.

This is not to you specifically, but a general reply on the voting. Some didn't vote for players of the 70's such as MacLeish because they didn't see him play. But some voted for players such as Giroux based on being well on his way to being one of the greatest. Hard to understand that logic. Giroux is one of the top players in the League right now. But one Season, as good as it was, shouldn't get you on the all time team. Not yet. MacLeish and Poulin both belong on the team before Giroux does. All in my humble opinion of course. Simply based on amount of time spent with the team.

With that being said, that's part of the fun of it, seeing who makes it and who doesn't. And for what reasons.

There was a few guys Coburn should have been behind....pretty sure some guys that voted never saw the 70's version of the Flyers....fair enough I guess....

I never say Gordie Howe play. But I still know he was one of the greatest ever to play the game.

Quitter, practice makes perfect.
For a long time, I debated that Mario was better than Gretzky. He was bigger, had the vision and scoring touch that Gretzy possesedas. At their best, it would have been like watching this Baylor/ WVA game. In the end, Gretzky comes out on top. I would have love to see Mario blessed with the good health that WG was afforded.

If I'm dating Rosanne Barr for ten years and get to spend the night with Stacey Kiebler, I'm not stating that Barr is the hottest chick ever because of "amount of time spent". Kiebler would have me at hello.

In this were "real", only a GM with drueling issues would take Poulin over Giroux.

I'm with you. It's titled "Your" all time Flyers team. And everyone has their own criteria for choosing. That's what makes it fun. I'm simply saying that in my opinion, both Poulin and MacLeish have accomplished more in their Flyers careers, then Primeau did, or that Giroux has to this point. Therefore neither in my opinion should be on the all time team. That's how I made my decision. Neither should Coburn in my opinion.

How is it hard to understand in terms of logic? I've never seen Poulin play, but I've seen Giroux play. Therefore, it would behoove me to go with what I know. Granted, I picked Poulin in my original roster, and its slightly strange to not have him on the All-Time Roster, but it makes perfectly logical sense to only choose what you've seen with your own eyes.

Most of the pollsters probably never had the opportunity to watch Dailey play so it's not surprising. It's hard to fairly rate a player under those circumstances.

Like choosing Primeau over Poulin. Those of us who watched them both play could give a more objective opinion.

Similar to Giroux, as was stated earlier, who over time will certainly be one of the all time greats. However his body of work to date is limited. Today, I'd also choose Macleish over G only because of the amount of years Rick played for the Flyers at such a high level. But ask me again in a couple of years and I will probably flip my pick.

All said and done, it was an interesting exercise.

I don't understand the logic of not choosing a player because you haven't seen him play. If a Flyers fan hasn't seen Bobby Clarke or Mark Howe play, then they shouldn't be chosen for the Flyers all time team? Like I've said multiple times. I've never seen Gordie Howe play. But I'm aware that he's one of the all time greats. But like I've also said multiple times. Everyone has their own criteria and reasons for choosing. But there is no question in my opinion that MacLeish belongs on the All Time team over Giroux at the Center position.

I have never seen Gordie Howe play live, but I'm pretty sure I'd take him before Trent Klatt, Matt Read or Keith Jones.

There's plenty of video of guys like Poulin out there, all it takes is google.

Why do we select inferior players to an all-time team?

The team should have the best players.

Like I've said multiple times, no GM on the planet would take Poulin in his prime over G. Not one. But it is just a game.

Edit - I did say a GM with drueling issues would take Poulin.
