Hard to pick against the dynasty guys as favorites. I also have to add guys like Kelly Hrudey, John Tonelli, and Patty L.

- ses111

I hear ya but I was only 7 yrs old when they started that dynasty run so Its tough for them to be my favorite if I can't remember all of the highlights

can say im really upset that nash got hurt.

Im just glad its not one of ours.

Agree with comment that Nolan is big reason this happend. 9mm a year contracts to Scott Gomez. Raised the bar on players salaries in a big way.

- Spartiarti

I think it was 8 shmill a year for Gomez, but that's not what started the crazy paydays. It was Dolans spending that created the cap when Bobby Holik got 10 million a year to be a checking line center. At that time he had basically identical stats to Michael Peca who was getting 5 shmill a year. Regardless, I for one have no problem with teams over paying if they can afford it. It's a microcosm of society. Should the rich be punished? To me circumventing the cap is brilliant and if the rangers wanna pay wade redden 5 shmill to play in Hartford, then so be it.

Forgot about ninimaa. He was brutal. I didn't hate Brett lindross. He was never supposed to be as good as Eric. I've heard he and his brother had a falling out and don't speak.

The penalty shot alone should take bates off that list. That was the biggest islander moment since the 1993 David volek goal

I had no problem with Bates or Lindros. Would have been great to see a line with Bertuzzi, Lindros, and Turgeon. The BLT line. What might have been.

Revenue sharing? As in, the revenue sharing concepts between teams?

That doesn't have a hell of a lot to do with this lockout. It's the percentage of revenue going to the players that is at issue.

- prock

Wrong. Revenue sharing is a big part of this lockout, as is the percentage of the pot going to each side. The big market owners don't want to share revenue with the 20 or so mid to small market teams, limiting those teams ability to be profitable. Revenue sharing means small market teams have more money to spend on players. That means they don't have to hover at or around the salary floor. That's good for the players and the small market owners, but it comes at the cost of tie big market owners losing some $$ out of their bottom lines.

So far, the big market guys refuse to flinch on revenue sharing. Just as there's a divide of players v. Owners, there is also a divide of big market owners v. Small market owners that needs to be addressed in this lockout.

Sure. But you also can't continually robbing the rich to give to the poor, just because they're rich. At some point, the have-nots have to fend for themselves, at least a little bit.
- prock

Its not about taking from the rich to give to the poor. The owners can't be viewed as two separate entities. They are partners in a joint business venture. The big market owners depend on the small market ones to create an audience to sell their own product to. The large market teams need opponents to play.

Look no further than the NFL to understand why revenue sharing is so important. The teams that sgenerate money hand over fist are doing it to support those teams that don't generate any money. Despite the revenue sharing, the NFL is a cash cow and everybody is making tons of money.

I know the NHL and NFL are different because the NHL doesn't have national TV contracts, but if the NHL is going to have 30 teams, it needs to have a revenue sharing system in place that allows for competently run small market teams to be able to turn at least a marginal profit.

NHL owners need to work as partners. It cannot be the top 5 money making owners just looking out for themselves and they tell the rest of the owners to sink. It's not about taking from the rich. It's about getting as many teams healthy as possible and healthy competition.
