I've had my ACL done. While you are able to skate in 5 to 6 months you really don't get all your strength back for at least a year. It was actually 2 years for me before I felt close to 100%.

Now he is younger and I'm sure had the best physio possible but I think it would be a lot to expect him to dominate right out of the gate.
