And that's always been the rule. The only thing changed is the re-entry.

You still like before are waiving players. Kinda like how every year during and after training camp players go on waivers and then are assigned to the AHL if they clear.

It doesn't say anything about players not having to go on waivers.

You say how if "only" affects re-entry waivers....which I would think is an important stipulation unless you want Eberle to spend the rest of his contract on another team, or in the AHL. I know you're playing semantics as to which end the agreement works, but the effect is the same...where players are being sent down who otherwise wouldn't have been able to.

Ugh, Eberle wouldn't be subjected to re-entry waivers anyways. That rule is only for waiver eligible players, which Eberle isn't.

Not every player that was sent to the AHL had to go on waivers in the first place. RNH and Eberle aren't waiver eligible yet.

You need to do some reading on what waivers and re-entry is all about.

This is how they decide who has to go on waivers. Seguin would've had to go on waivers to go to AHL, hence why he is in Switzlerand. He played 175 games.

Skinner - 146
Eberle - 147
RNH - 62

These guys didn't go on waivers as they didn't meet the criteria and can go up and down all they want until they hit 160.

Hall while only playing 126 NHL games couldn't be sent to OKC because you can't assigned a player who was injured on company time to the AHL.

Ok, sorry, I used Eberle as the wrong example. But the point still stands with respect to players like Scrivens.

Players are wrong for playing overseas because their not concerned with the issue here? What are they suppose to do when the NHL isn't trying to negotiate?

You sign a contract to do a job. Your job wants to renogitate your contract so that your making less money then they said they'd initially pay you. So you choose to not go to work. Your job says "stay home until your ready to accept your pay cut"

Some players are gladly doing it, others are just saying "Ok, I'll go work somewhere else".

Your missing the part that where No CBA=No Games=No contractual obligations for players. They don't owe the NHL anything. They can go work we're they please.

Sounds like your are pro-player...

they are no better than the owners...

Plus I think the actual point went over your head. Think of another union...lets say teachers. The Teachers contract runs out and before the school year starts the govt locks out the teachers. Well those teachers all stay together and don't go looking for other teaching jobs in districts not affected. Solidarity....very important union ideal.

The players that have been jumping ship for EU leagues are breaking that very important union ideal.

First mistake is thinking that a sports union is the same as any other union.

Does not mean they should not be as #United...as they say they are...to real people that means that they have each others back, when really they are as mercenary as can be...

That's not the reality so no point in thinking it is. This happens in ever pro sports league, nothing new to see here.

The unions aren't the same, and even the CBAs aren't the same. Pro sports is the only scenario there is a collective CBA that governs individual contracts.

Depending who you talk to the PA isn't a union it's an association.

Odd thing came up on another site about this talk of Alberta making this illegal strike. A guy said if that's the case then we can buyout and player as long as we give them the required severance pay which would be 3-5 weeks of pay for a guy like Horcoff.

In the last labour shortages where did the other players in the MLB, NFL, NBA go to play. I never heard of players coming to the CFL or whatever the Euro league is called. This only happens in NHL.

These players are only concerned with themselves and they show it. this is why the owners will pwn them and they will take what the owners will give them.

NBA had players all over Europe.

Couldn't tell you about the MLB because that was a long time ago. Although that last MLB strike was a bit different. Keep in mind the players were actually playing and then the strike took place.

NFL didn't miss any games so there was no need to leave. Plus the CFL I believe doesn't take players that are lockout by the NFL. The other issue would've been the whole agreement to when players are allowed to come to the CFL and I don't think it would've mattered. To be honest I don't know what league actually lines up with the NFL so that players could leave perfectly like the NHL. Think arena football finishes in July so that wouldn't be an option.

Here's a question for people that don't like the idea of players playing in Europe. Why is it okay for teams to assign players to the AHL like Eberle and RNH? What really is the difference?

We have R&D looking into it. We are differentiators (innovative leaders in our market) so we may very well have this option available. At the very least, we will have a 1-900 number available for those who wish to hear our employees make farting/squishing/clapping/moaning sounds.
