I liked Gagne but I dont get all the love for him. He was injured a ton and his carreer stats dont match up to Tochetts. He had the two big 40 plus goal seasons but was pretty sporadic after that.

He was a very skilled player...solid offensively and defensively

Not that I'd vote for them but both Don Saleski and Mike Knuble played more significant careers here then some of the names on the list.
- mayorofangrytown

Knuble is on the list. In terms of some of the others -- who won't win -- I tried to get some variety on the list and to represent different era.

He won't be voted in, nor will Schultz. But Brownie will be back in the pool for the 12th/13th forward. Figured there should be one representative enforcer. Homer is up for the vote, too.

Can someone cut and paste the list?I'm at work and cant access it. Off the top of my head i would go:
Barber
Leach
Kerr
Tocchet
Renberg
LeClair
Macleash

Ok, scratch Macleash add Gagne

- KINGKENZO

MacLeash was a center so you can scratch him completely

I guess no one remembers Gary Dornhoefer. Wow. I have to say I'm shocked. 200+ goals, 500+ pts and a statue. He was Tocchett for the 70s. Guy just did it all.
- mayorofangrytown

I certainly remember him. But you have to make some choices. And he didn't make my top 7.

His stats with the Flyers match up quite well. He scored more goals than Tocchett and had more points. Tocchett had a handful more assists and spent a truck load of time in the box compared to Gagne. They are entirely different players so it's a matter of taste.

Plus Gagne loved the Flyers, didn't want to leave and Tocchett trashed us from Pittsburgh of all places.

Hartsy, leclair, barber, recchi, kerr, leech, and schultz, because well... no one would lay a finger on anyone knowing he was sitting on the bench.

I left Recchi off out of spite. Pained me not to select Sinisalo. He was one of my favourites.

If we were picking by how much we enjoyed their careers and what they contributed I could have put Sinisalo and TJ Gorence on the list.

That's a shame. You missed a lot of great hockey.

Tell me about it, what I wouldnt give to be 25 back in the 70s or even the 80s

If we are going overall team, why wouldnt we vote in Schultz, im pretty sure he would keep the rest of the team safe by just sitting on the bench lol

By the way, one of the private donors listed on the Ice Pirates thank you list for making the Simmonds and Stewart signing a reality is someone who called himself "Al Capone."

This person obvs got to the vault before Geraldo Rivera.

EDIT: With the team name, I'd have gone with the pseudonym "Robert Urich," myself.

Forgetting hockey, his entertainment value was higher than most on this list. I didn't vote for him at first, but wish I did now.

I'll reiterate what I said at the end -- and I am a big Hextall fan, too.

"Lindbergh and Hextall were both unique talents; very different from one another on and off the ice. Longevity won the day here, and it's not surprising. But if you ask me which guy was the better goaltender, I'll tell you it was Pelle Lindbergh."

Maybe this blog should be about who's better rather than an all time roster?

I had to go with Recchi. Won three SC's, and put up a ton of points over the yeras. I was always a fan while he was here and he was annoying as hell (even in his 40's) to play against.

Remember we are talking about the players time as a flyer, or Jagr would easily make that list. however Recchi still had a fantastic tenure as a flyer. I voted for him too.
