and about 24 other teams in the league - Cptmjl
Is it weird to you that EVERY player he's traded for is no longer playing on the isles? Minus Visnovsky |

Why would they underpay him like that. Wow. Kudos for snow but I agree should have given him a little more. Looks like he could be way more expensive in 4 yrs |

1 million a year for a 4th liner is underpaid? He scored 7 goals last year. I know he throws his body all over the place but saying he is underpaid is a little much for me. You would hope in 4 years he is worth more and when the time comes he'll get the raise he deserves |

Im not acting like the isles are the only team low-balling their depth players. My original point months ago, was that Martin, like Grabner should have been extended during the season. To me it says thanks for bringing it night in and night out. Thanks for being the only physical forward on this team...... - kindlyrick
But on the flip side, you (or me, or anyone) don't know if whether or not they tried to. It's possible they tried to and MM and/or his agent decided they wanted to hold out and try to negotiate a more favorable deal for the player. |

Absolutely. Martin could be one of those PO players. Said that all along. - Cptmjl
The unfortunate problem is that when the Isles are going to be (or be considered) a legitimate playoff contender, Martin may not be around or may not have much time left before UFA. If you look at the Kings, most of those incredibly valuable role players that played well in the playoffs (Nolan, King, etc..) haven't been around the team long. Had those guys made the team 3 or 4 years ago, there's a good chance they may have been gone to UFA before the Kings run. |

That is what happened........Martins only leverage was to wait. He had to take the 1 mill for 4 years ultimately. NO WAY he takes that deal as a UFA.....

I absolutely LOVE the fact that Teddy Nolans kid won a cup. I was rooting so hard for him. They're old school.......that family understands hockey! |

Does Nino have a choice? What happens if he says screw you to the isles and heads to the swiss league? What are the repercussions?

I really don't know about that, I'll have to ask my friend that works for the NHL or the ones that work for the team
Edit: I don't see why he wouldn't be able to if Nail Yakupov has signed and is gonna play in Russia |

Also, realize two things.......a majority of the season he was playing with bums. Secondly, the guy averages like 12 min of ice a game. A few of those minutes are on the kill. If He played 15-20 min a game he'd def be in double digits goal wise. Also, let him play with a real centerman, and an Ulstrom and watch his numbers increase!
Martin, Frans, Ulstrom......thats a legit 3rd line. |

I just checked... He was not among the 26 players they assigned there. So they probably allowed him to go. Thou Eberle and RNH were assigned to Oklahoma City |

Interesting......obv the isles would want Nino with bridgeport to monitor his developement. I wouldnt want any isles prospects to play in Europe. Its a different game all together....

Its really so upsetting/shocking that this is the third time in 15-20 years that this sport has had a lockout. The league as a whole should be embaressed!!

I'd much rather see Nino stay in the AHL on a NA size sheet of ice. Last thing he needs is another wrench thrown into his system, in the form of an olympic size rink. |
