Thats pretty interesting, actually pleasantly surprised Burke was trying, good stuff. - Leafland
pfft, we all know Burke doesn't try to do anything ever. Must be the laziest GM in all of sports. It would be amazing if we had a GM who was willing to make at least one significant trade a year.

I just didn't think the Leafs were in it at all, I badly wanted them to be.

But....but.....but......we can't compete, in the AHL playoff race this year.....it's all ready sown up, according to Cloutier. The Oilers are sending an Allstar team, to compete in the AHL this year. At least 5 NHL Allstars will be playing for the Oilers AHL affiliate. Lets just give up now and save the embarrassment........... - PrinceLH

The NHL lockout is a conspiracy. This conspiracy has been orchastrated by none other than MLSE! Here is why:
1. If the season is locked out, the Leafs get rid of all their bad contracts (Connoly, et al)
2. If there is a season this year, we all know the team will spend most of the year competing for that last playoff spot and will finish in a bad drafting position and will not get the coveted number 1 pick. Without a season, there chances of securing the #1 pick are increased (ala Penguins).
3. A lockout will allow Gardiner, Kadri, and others to play in the AHL this year and develop. We will again have a deep playoff run...
4. A lockout allows us to fastforward to the Getzlaf, Perry UFA year. And we all know they are signing with the Leafs...
5. A lockout will allow Burke to keep his job for now.

Anyone know/hear if Marlies games will be televised more than usual during the lockout? I know useless Leafs TV likely won't, but perhaps Sportsnet or TSN?
