My overall question is this :
Let's say the players agree and they take a 10% cut to end up at 47% this time.
Who is to say the owners do not come back in another 5 years and say, well, some teams are still losing money, so now we need you to go down to 42% or 40%.
Do the players have to take it on the chin evey single time?
What percentage brings it to the point of enough is enough?
Will everyone continue to say the players are whining babies no matter what because they simply make more then most people?

That is exactly what they will try and exactly what they will get. If over half the teams are really losing money then salaries will continue to get scaled back. Once the lockout starts, players will go to Russia or other leagues in Europe at significantly reduced salaries which plays right into the NHL's hands. They will prove yet again that they will play for pretty much anything because despite what the players say, they have it pretty good.
