If isles went to brooklyn, wouldnt they have to pay a large relocation fee of some sort to the Rags? Or something like that?

also believe if isles moved to brooklyn, it would be a different fan base, not many longislanders can financially supports the tixx prices that will prob go up, since in new building, plus the MTA tixxs. Brooklyn has no parking, only has 5500 parking spaces for elite members, well thats the deal w/Nets.

to your first question, no.. Rags get nothing

to your second question.. It would be a huge change in fan base... any move to Brooklyn.. regardless of what is being "said" is only a temporary move. The ONLY way that changes is if someone involved with Barclays or the Nets buys the team. That is not likely to happen any time soon.

There's absolutely no reason why an NHL franchise can't be a HUGE success on Long Island. If your team does relocate, Wang and the management team should be completely ashamed of themselves. Sh1t, send me over there... Are you reading this, Wang? Not only will I spend 1 year in Rosie O'Donnell's anus, I will also make the Islanders the most successful hockey organization in the US of A! WOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

Ranger fans from suffolk have no problem taking the train to MSG. If the isles start winning the fans will come.

They should already be ashamed of themselves. Wang has made this team into the circus that it is today. Is there any other way we can convince you to spend a year in that fat slobs a$$?

Not a truer statement has been posted on this site. If Wang ever wanted to be successful with this thing that's all he ever had to do. This team will NEVER garner enough support to do anything in it's current state. I think we proved that a couple times already? I would gladly hop on the train to Brooklyn to see them play if they started to give a rats ass about what they were putting on the ice and made some sensible decisions.

True, but I guess I was referring to season tixx holders.
Rags are more corporate, and isles are more family based
like Mets/Yanks.....

me who is/was a season tixx holders could not bare the xtra expense of the train for 41 games, but for a few games yes

With over 90 luxury suites at the Barclay's Center, I would think the Islanders would be corporate too....which wouldn't be a bad thing...

Not bad at all. Time for the Isles to be big time. LI had plenty of chances to keep the team. Brooklyn is ready to step up.

Like I said when the team starts winning in a brand spanking new arena, people will find a way to get there. Add to that the fact that people are gonna wanna be a part of something new (fans). For whatever fans decide to not make the trek out to brooklyn from long island........there will be plenty others locally who will. That arena, with the Nets owners are gonna gain a ton of interest for that building. The isles would only benefit from it.

I always found it funny that whenever the isles have made the playoffs, all of a sudden the old barn gets packed........you start to see jerseys of players that werent there all season. Fans will come.......make no mistake about that. All it takes is winning.

Not to mention what it costs to park at the coliseum now is pretty similar to what it would cost to take the train. So the way I see it, its 6 of one, half dozen of the other. Either way there's commuting cost....

There's more to the story than Charles Wang. There's so much grafting and red tape with the politicians on long island, noone could get a deal done. Long island has some of the highest taxes in the country yet the county is in the red. Geee wonder why. Same reason why the MTA said it was losing money year after year as pricing were going up........all of a sudden this year a story came out about workers scamming overtime and pensions.

"The new arrests bring to 32 the number of people charged in the scheme, which federal prosecutors in Manhattan said could have cost the Railroad Retirement Board more than $1 billion if all of the money had been disbursed. " WONDER WHY THE MTA WAS LOSING MONEY????

Let's be real here. Love how it's spun that players are victims here. And the owners are greedy. f that.
Owners have every right to try to make money. They are fronting the money, take the hit when fans don't come to game.

Tell me one business owner not sports related that would be ok with his employees taken 57% of the revenues when their income is guaranteed. That bs. Anyone that thinks otherswise here know nothing about running a successful biz.

I love how players dawn on fact that revs up huge, but yet we are the morons that have to pay 120 buck a game with 10 parking and $9 beers. Maybe that has to come to end.

As for it was owners that responsible for players salary. Not true That some teams like rangers Toronto and flyers fault.

Player salaries should come down in all sports as should ticket prices. Sports were an event that families would go enjoy themselves. Now it's just the big companies they are tailoring to that write off th e tickets against their biz.

And they wonder why stadiums are not full.

I 100% agree with this post. The idiots that voted no will only see an increase in their taxes now. I love Long Island but some of the people that live here are so fickle and set in their ways. They think they can pick up Newsday and get an accurate report of what is going on in the world today which in itself is laughable. These same people will be the ones whining when there is a giant empty lot in the middle of Hempstead and they have to take a train to see a show.

The Islanders paid a one-time territorial fee to the Rangers back in the 70's. I don't think they'd have to pay again. Besides, the current option, staying in Nassau, isn't a option. The arena is a dump and the politicans can't find a way to get a new/renovated arena constructed. Its time to move on. Bklyn isn't a bad option. Certainly better than Quebec, KC or Seattle.

Except when you take your family to a game you pay the parking fee once. When you go by train each person pays.

Define "temporary"? If you think "temporary" means like five or less years, just so the politicans in Nassau can get their collective s**t together and get an arena built, I disagree. The Isles aren't going to plan on moving for five years and ultimately return to Nassau. They're not going to have that plan now, before even seeing how profitable and beneficial to the team a move to Bklyn can be. What if the team thrives financially in Bklyn? Why move back to Nassau then? Nobody knows what type of deal the Isles are going to sign if they move, but I'm sure they're not going into the move with the idea that its a foregone conclusion they're going to move back to Nassau at some point.

Not true at all. Rarely do people got the games in their car alone. 3 to five people in a car is not the same price in parking as it would be for 3-5 train tickets.. not even close. Plus if you have season tix you get free parking, you will not get free train tix with season tix to Brooklyn.

5-7 years... 1 reason & one reason only.. Wang does not want Brooklyn no matter how profitable it is (it wont be) but even if it is.... Wang wants Nassau!!

That is why I said it was a temp move UNLESS.... Someone on the Brooklyn side finds a way to make Wang sell & they take the team off his hands.

As long as Wang is owner of this team, he will have visions of HIS arena in Uniondale.
