Let's be real here. Love how it's spun that players are victims here. And the owners are greedy. f that.
Owners have every right to try to make money. They are fronting the money, take the hit when fans don't come to game.

Tell me one business owner not sports related that would be ok with his employees taken 57% of the revenues when their income is guaranteed. That bs. Anyone that thinks otherswise here know nothing about running a successful biz.

I love how players dawn on fact that revs up huge, but yet we are the morons that have to pay 120 buck a game with 10 parking and $9 beers. Maybe that has to come to end.

As for it was owners that responsible for players salary. Not true That some teams like rangers Toronto and flyers fault.

Player salaries should come down in all sports as should ticket prices. Sports were an event that families would go enjoy themselves. Now it's just the big companies they are tailoring to that write off th e tickets against their biz.

And they wonder why stadiums are not full.

- Spartiarti

the league wants the players to roll back their salaries which are handed out like candy by the owners out of control gm's. the league wants the players to pay for the gm's careless spending and dancing through loop holes of a CBA the owners created.

If isles went to brooklyn, wouldnt they have to pay a large relocation fee of some sort to the Rags? Or something like that?

also believe if isles moved to brooklyn, it would be a different fan base, not many longislanders can financially supports the tixx prices that will prob go up, since in new building, plus the MTA tixxs. Brooklyn has no parking, only has 5500 parking spaces for elite members, well thats the deal w/Nets.

- Ur Not Me

if given the option of having to take the subway/being able to actually watch them in bk OR having them relocate to Quebec....ill buy a (frank)ing metrocard!

True, but I guess I was referring to season tixx holders.
Rags are more corporate, and isles are more family based
like Mets/Yanks.....

me who is/was a season tixx holders could not bare the xtra expense of the train for 41 games, but for a few games yes

- Ur Not Me

its 104 a month for a monthly unlimited metrocard...figure if you "trade" 2 tickets for 1 game, your transportation is set...problem solved.

5-7 years... 1 reason & one reason only.. Wang does not want Brooklyn no matter how profitable it is (it wont be) but even if it is.... Wang wants Nassau!!

That is why I said it was a temp move UNLESS.... Someone on the Brooklyn side finds a way to make Wang sell & they take the team off his hands.

As long as Wang is owner of this team, he will have visions of HIS arena in Uniondale.

i respectfully (and totally based off what ive seen over the years IE my opinion) strongly disagree with this....as frustrated as we are with nassau, i think wang is 10x more frustrated than us, and i think that ship has sailed. and unless someone is going to drop a name that said wang is all-in on nassau i wont believe otherwise.

as much as a lot of people dont want to admit it, wang is a smart dude. and quite frankly, if it looks like poop and it smells like poop...its probably poop!!

Could not agree more. At this stage I do not see anything working in Nassau. While I have problems with the way Wang ran the team he did try to make it work in Nassau.

A wiser man than myself likes to say, "Don't get even, get rich." I bet bygones would be bygones awfully quickly in Nassau if the "master developer" and the county came to Wang with a proposal that would put a lot of money in his pocket. That said, you'd need someone who is awfully good at herding cats to get everyone in Nassau on the same page at this point.

Odds are not looking good UIF. If things can somehow work out in Nassau fine I have no problem with the Isles staying. Time is running out even though the lease is up in 2015. I would think Wang is going to want some type of agreement in place soon and not something at the last hour. Brooklyn seems to be the best chance and I doubt Brooklyn is only looking for a short term deal.

Wang set his own deadline for 12/31/12 for Nassau to let him build or else it's done

And BDGallof reported on twitter this morning that niño may not be able to participate in the AHL if there is a lockout

Not true at all. Rarely do people got the games in their car alone. 3 to five people in a car is not the same price in parking as it would be for 3-5 train tickets.. not even close. Plus if you have season tix you get free parking, you will not get free train tix with season tix to Brooklyn.

Reason?

Edit: Scratch the Strome and Reinhart in the AHL idea from the other thread too, if Bill Meltzer has his facts right about the "under 20" rule:

It's actually part of the now-expired NHL-CHL agreement. However, the AHL has said it would continue to operate under that rule until a new NHL-CHL agreement is reached.

The fact is if you want something you make adjustments. Maybe you spend less on dinner, maybe you don't spend as much on other luxury items. Heck maybe you sell one of your three Yashin jerseys. Point being, people aren't gonna not go if the isles move to Brooklyn and are winning. You'll be there with your train ticket in hand and your orange Yashin jersey freshly pressed.

It's exactly why. My buddy got waived by Ottawa for that same reason.

"As for it was owners that responsible for players salary. Not true That some teams like rangers Toronto and flyers fault".
- Spartiarti

This is one of the dumbest statements I have read regarding the lockout.

Even if it were true (Spartiarti is implying that the Rangers, Toronto and Flyers were responsible for driving up the salary and lengths of contracts....look at the Devils and Kovalchuk, the Islanders and DP (one of the 1st, if not the first long term big bucks deals), the Pens with Crosby and Malkin, the Caps with Ovechkin, the Oilers with Penner, the Wild with Suter and Parise, the Canucks with Luongo, etc, etc, they ALL do it) just who does Spartiarti think is approving the deals and the salaries for the Rangers , Toronto and the Flyers!

THE FREAKIN' OWNERS OF THOSE TEAMS, THATS WHO!!!!!

No matter where Spartiarti wants to place the blame for the current mess the league is in it basically comes down to owners.

If your a good employee and your boss or a competitor offers you a big raise over a guaranteed term of employment wouldn't you take it? How is this the players fault?

A player negotiates in good faith and gets a signed contract on a great deal. The owner then says give us back 24 percent of the value of it and while we are negotiating, give us back 14 percent of the revenue you generate for us. Then we will turn around and give you a big bucks long term contract that we will tell you we can't afford come the next CBA in 5 years.

Makes sense to me.

The sad thing is that most owners aren't making money. In fact, 18 teams (60%) actually lost money last season.

People are ignoring the fact that we are talking revenues here, and not net income. The players have little to no expenses that come out of their 57%... The owners have HUGE operational costs that come from their 43%. Most owners lost money last season, and something has to be done!
